So, there's a coup in TNP.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Hope people didn't mind my posting it here, since it is the place for regional politics....

Can I just say that coming home from a NS meet to find your delegate has decided to pull a coup really sucks. I informed Dali of this fact. :p

This is why I rule my region with an iron fist. With spikes. And bits of razor wire.

Oh! And poison on the spikes. Gotta have that.

The Security Council mentioned you, or your alias (FEC), in their response announcment.

Whoa, I didn't know you lived in CA. I'll be moving to CA soon as well :P

Oh my goodness! I never thought I'd see the day when the North Pacific would have a coup. ... Wow.

NS meet? The creators of NS hold conferences about the game? That's very interesting. I thought everything was done by e-mail, online/telephone chat, etc.

After reading the entire thread, I have to say that parts of it don't make sense. From what I understand, the delegate of TNP broke the law of the region by declaring that there was to be no more regional government until the issues within the region could be resolved. According to the leaders of that region, and to Article 11 of their Constitution, he has misused his power and they are planning to expel him.

With that said, it looks like the government is still in place.

Hey Angels World, remember me from Cyber Nations?

Yes, people from NS, not just the mods, do have meetups, and it apparently happens quite often.

As to what you said, I heard that he plans to introduce his plans on the 19th. But he took power only out of frustration of not being able to do anything, though I do agree he could have done it in a better way without going into a constitutional showdown...

Says the one who's been scorned by or kicked out of a fair number of the Pacifics...

Anyways, I normally wouldn't have done this, but I have a message to keep from being corrupted. I believe that the established clique of that forum is blowing this whole event out of proportion and is aggravating it. Frankly, I'm more interested in defending the interests of the region then the interests of a few hardliners who shield themselves with a confusing text document called the Constitution. Born from the fires of conflict and then a period of paranoia, this document, while I admit had good intentions, eventually choked the region until incompetence and apathy reigned.

Friends, it is sad that the hardliners can't seem to be able to admit that I haven't fired a single bullet at anyone yet, if you will. No one has been ejected or banned from the region. I've banned more people from the region while I was participating with the z13 government, to be honest. Suspicions were rampant through the darker rooms of the institutions that held the government together, and I admit I was affected by it.

You want to know a plan? Since 15 minutes after I began this Transitional Period, I've been meeting with people across the region, trying to get a sense of what they feel would make our region a better place. My door has been open this whole time, and not once have I been given an actual response that could be implemented. I had higher expectations of this "community", yet it seems I've been wrong. They only want me to guillotine myself, to put in a descriptive way.

I've given the region this time so we can hammer out our differences. I've been meeting all day with moderates (including the lovely Erastide), and I'm somewhat pleased. I think some of the negotiators have understand what I mean, and from there we will work forward for our region. However, I don't believe I can ever work with the reactionaries who are working against me to bring back the old rule. Should I feel that this is not working, well, keep the 19th marked on your calendars.

I do actually wish to thank Ramaba (sorry, you go by Govindia here, eh?) for starting this alarmist thread. I'm not a Francos Spain, I'm not a Great Bight, nor am I a Pixiedance. I just want my region to thrive and move forward.

Chodean Kal,
Delegate of The North Pacific.

(And yes, Eras did call me an idiot when she found out. I had to chuckle at that.)

Joint Statement from the Prime Minister and Delegate
It is with great pleasure that we announce that the spirit of peace and friendship is still alive in The North Pacific. It has been agreed that representatives from the Third Republic (commonly known as the z13 community or officially the Government of The North Pacific) and the Delegate have been meeting for negotiations. As such, we consider it necessary to withhold any unilateral statement that may inflame the situation. The future of our region is at stake, and we hope everyone is mindful of the realities of the situation before us.

We would like to take this time to remind all third parties to respect Northern sovereignty. It is then asked by both the Delegate and the Prime Minister that all foreign allies of both parties withdraw from the region, and a cease-fire be declared. It is our belief that all nations desires an end to the agitated tensions rumaging through the region. What was once a bleak hope in a spiralling conflict has now reached a calming point, allowing our region to heal and prosper.

Signed,

Chodean Kal,
Delegate of The North Pacific

Upper Kirby,
Prime Minister of The North Pacific

At the request of the previous poster, I'll quote what I posted in the RMB in The North Pacific a few minutes ago.

My fellow North Pacificans, good evening.

This day, August 11th, we as a region move forward from the decaying ruin that was formerly our government. We have been taking back this region in multiple fronts over the last few evenings. The first front has been our collective efforts in taking back our RMB from vultures and spammers. With the tools given to us, we have done more to remove hideous "art" and mega-ads than ever before. You should be proud of these achievements, yet remember, we still need to keep an eye out for violators each day. Report any suspicious or illegal RMB activity to the Delegate, or on the forums.

Speaking of forums, this brings me to our second front. It is with great pleasure that I introduce to the region a new forum designed to allow you to participate in whatever way you wish. If you sign up on there, and don't see anything that interests you, don't be put off. Our new society is flexible system, adapting to the needs of the citizens who run it. Our forum location is http://tnp.jairo.org.

We must exercise caution during these times. Please be wary of telegrams telling you to unendorse your legally elected Delegate for 172 days and counting. If you must endorse other people than the Delegate, please only endorse those whom you know. It would be a shame to allow some malicious nation the power to eject and ban whomever they wanted.

Hope you have a wonderful day,

Chodean Kal,
Delegate of The North Pacific.
