How Does One View Their Citizens?

This debate is from your Nation's point of view. Put aside your daily interests and look at the Nation you run. Think about this question deeply: How have you answered your people's cries? How do you make decisions during Issues? I must ask you that you do not flame. Flaming is cruel...even if you are, I must ask you to bite down on your tongue. But...Argue away! Debate away!

How Does One [Nation] View Their Citizens?

Well, I must say that as long as one is useful, they are allowed to thrive in my Nation. For example, the citizens in my retirement homes were asking for many luxuries. Their excuse, "We fought in the war!" Exactly, they were useful then and now they are not. I need not worry about them. Also, as long as one agrees with me and my opinions, they are safe. All criminals are to be executed...NO rehabilition. Why waste my time on the problem? Lowly criminals are flogged or stoned. Mothers AREN'T allowed to take a six month, fully paid leave. That's pointless and it would make my thriving economy crash. Remember, if you aren't useful, I don't need you. Drugs have been banned; after all, I want my citizens to be perfect.

That's the overall outlook of my point of view of my citizens.

It's because the retired people that fought in the war must have their luxuries. You work your life every day and can't deserve a bit of relaxation at the end of your life? Criminals mustn't be executed. Although they have made terrible crimes they still remain humans; that's why that type of punishment is a step on human rights. Criminals should simply be sent into jail, alone, and away from society to spend their life wondering in 4 walls; maybe that will change them..maybe not. But execution..never. Lastly, mothers must take a full paid leave. They work their ass out every day so they deserve the best of rights. Human is a life, not a useful or unuseful machine that sells man power and is only interested in money. It is a being that feels, that needs to spend their limited time here enjoyably while contributing to society and to all human beings and animals.
All people are EQUAL, deserve the best of rights and political freedoms, even if economy must suffer a little. They pay taxes to their government, why then let private enterprise take them more money when the government could use those taxes to clean the beaches and raise education budget?

As a thriving, fledgling nation, Granradia as a government views its citizens in a respective light. We try to answer to as many interest groups' pleas as we can, but we have to draw the line at some point; we make legislation against racial discrimination in various enterprises, but you can't eliminate it everywhere. The same goes for animal cruelty... We make laws forbidding the mistreatment of animals, save for the humane slaughter to be made into food... but there's still mistreatment. We've got a problem with crime, but this will hopefully change in the longrun with new funding coming into our law enforcement community, as well as fresh, new blood enforcing the law.

We're also a peaceful nation. We don't look to other nations and see enemies; we simply see partners in international cooperation, as any respectful UN member nation should. We don't maintain a standing army, navy, or air force as of yet; we do maintain a standing Maritime Defense Force for the sake of protecting our shores and the local waterways our people use.

I hope that I answered that question well enough.
