well...what's your concept of good music?

It changes on a daily basis, I like AC/DC when I am in one kind of mood, and then I like Scissor Sisters another time, then I might like the Eagles or something loud and hairy, I have VERY eclectic taste, I have no favourite.

i listen to mainly to post-rock, electronica/indietronica, some psychedelic folk, some experimental music wich doesn't really fit into a genre and more recently i also started listening to electronic dance music,( but not the really popular kind).

PS: this forum isn't for roleplaying, you shouldn't pretend you're a head of state or something.
H N Fiddlebottoms VIII
11-05-2007, 19:16
The national anthem of H N Fiddlebottoms VIII is "Rich, White & Republican" by Root Boy Slim.
That is, except for a brief time in 2006 when it was "Love Is My Religion" by Ziggy Marley, but nobody talks about that dark, dark time.

Pompous world
11-05-2007, 20:14
The citizens of Pompous World are condemned to endure the sounds of human suffering every day, blared out on mega phones placed everywhere in the state which is now underground following random nuclear testing by the goverment. In short no one can escape the screaming and crying. But there is variety. It is punctuated by music from Garth Brooks and Westlife, followed by Government announcements telling them that they are living in a new age of unfathomable darkness while glorifying their leader as a god among mortals. The citizens of pompous world are given jobs, they cannot choose and live in dank hideous underground caverns made from blackest basalt, as the mole people

But the entire point was to change the standard "elevator music" to something that people want to listen to. Utracia's youth had spoken after all, they want their devil music. :)

Yeah, but they'll immediately begin hating it, since it's played in elevators. Soon they'll be headbanging to elevator music.

Now THAT is a scary thought. If I had to listen to "traditional" elevator music on the street I might lose my mind.

The CISR has representatives from all sorts of music on it's radio, largely leaning towards generic rock and pop, with some hip-hip. Underground there's everything imaginable, currently spazzcore and kittenviolence are important within the punk/hardcore scene.

Personally I listen to emo(not emptiveemo though), grindcore(not lame scenegrind though), hardcore, industrial, gabber and only the most kvlt, grim, tr00est, necro black metal.
Sominium Effectus
12-05-2007, 01:30

The Loyal Opposition

The loyally opposed have been known to give a "thumbs up" to the following artists on their favorite internet radio service:

Leaves' Eyes
Juno Reactor
Dead Can Dance
Blue Man Group
Afro Celt Sound System
Within Temptation
Trance Mission
Airto
Lisa Gerrard & Patrick Cassidy
Blut Aus Nord
Haggard
Robert Tree Cody
Carlos Nakai
Ron Trent
Ladysmith Black Mambazo
Einstürzende Neubauten

Music that successfully incorporates multiple genres or ethnic/world regional styles, while emphasizing or employing primarily, although not necessarily exclusively, traditional or non-conventional instrumentation (i.e. those not requiring electrical cords) is especially appreciated. The "World" or "International" section of the local purveyor of musical media is especially popular.

Kinda Sensible people
12-05-2007, 05:29
The unrestrained capatalist economics and the anarchic politics of the Anarchist "Paradise" of Kinda Sensible people have led to the rise of a corrupt music industry (golly, when has that happened before). Payolla means that a single, uber-rich band is the only band to ever be played on the radio or sold in stores. Therefore, all Kinda Sensible folks listen to a band called the Kinda Sensible band. Imagination being unecessary in a state ruled by corrupt record labels. The Kinda Sensible band plays Pop/Polka/Thrash Metal/Free Jazz.

Unless you're talking about about my musical tastes, which should be well enough published for you to know. Everyone knows that I like Gangsta-Rap, Pop, and Pop-Punk.

Radio 2.
Why does that not surprise me? :p

Usual music tastes in I V Stalin (or 'Ivvy', as it's known by some of the more undesirable elements of society) range from metal to whatever I tell them to listen to. Currently, public loudspeakers are playing all the songs entered in the Eurovision Song Contest on a loop.

Mirkana
12-05-2007, 23:53
The militaristic Mirkanans enjoy rock and roll, especially stuff that gets you pumped up and angry. References to battle and violence are popular. In fact, most Mirkanan military vehicles have simple media systems installed, so the troops can get themselves in the right mood for battle.

Currently, "Frontline" by Pillar, is Mirkana's #1 favorite song, especially among infantrymen.

Recently, a new breed of homegrown music has shown up - "tank metal". Originating in the armored divisions, tank metal is militaristic metal, and is traditionally recorded inside a tank. Most tank metal bands are tank crews, and some units sponsor 'sound-offs' between rival bands.

Slower music is less popular, with the blues almost nonexistant.

Good old style Heavy Metal. Ya know, Judas Priest, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath (Especially with Ozzy and Ronnie James Dio), Metallica, etc. Then a good healthy dosage of 80s hair bands, Motley Crue, Ratt, Winger, etc. And finally, some hard core Grunge: Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Sound Garden, stuff like that.
Zwangzug
16-06-2007, 21:08
Music is very appreciated in Zwangzug. Prominent pop musicians include Benny Angle (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Benny_Angle) and Red Knight (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Red_Knight). More "edgy" rock bands include Hell's Irate Puppies and The Destroyinators. Rock opera, like all music with "plot-based" lyrics, is perhaps the most popular genre. Classical/instrumental music is also widely valued.
Rejistania
18-06-2007, 08:31
The most popular Rejistanian music is kaneka. Other styles are also influenced by the traditional harmonies and melodies. International influences have led to the rise of a capella music. It might be notable that the rejistani copyright laws are very unrestricting and filesharing is legal (Rejistanis often joke to foreigners that the only copy protection is Konihekta, the state-owned ISP). This leads to the fact that many international record companies do not offer their music in the 'tani'

Dear Mr. Gurnston

We would like to perform at your perfomance center. Our tank metal band, made up of members of the 134th Mirkanan Armored Battalion, has just released our fourth album, "Shell Shock", and we have recieved several music awards for it.

Just to warn you, we will be bringing a few tanks with us, and we will be firing blank rounds during the performance. We will need to consult with your staff on safety - we are tankers, and we know how to handle our weapons.

Sincerely,

Classical, mittlealter, and industrial styles are all extremely popular in Mikitivity. On NSWiki there is an article "Death Key" that really is a stub to talk about the local industrial genre. There also is a stub about the "Miervatia Gewandhaus" which is planned to really be developed into an extensive set of articles covering local classical musicians and composers.
