Corrupt Governments

Sorry if this is in the wrong area.

I looked at the info blurb for my nation recently, and I found that my recently "large government" is now "huge and corrupt", but I barely passed any government-expanding issues in the period in between.
My question is: What makes a government corrupt in NS, and how can I change this (preferably without actually shrinking the government of my nation).

Stuff such as annexing nations for their resources, selling your garbage to foreign nations, and relieving the "right nations" will boost corruption. I don't know how what would decrease it, but I don't tend to run non-corrupt nations either.

I don't know about an answer to your question, but the reason your government went from large to huge and corrupt so quickly is because, as a new nation, your responses to issues has a greater effect on your nation than, for example, my issue responses do for my nation.

Same happened to me, was fun. I was "The Federation of Northern Arcology", known for its Excellent rights. Now I'm the Theocracy of Northern Arcology, known for its control of its population by loudspeakers, religious leaders and stealing gold :P

What was the issue option you chose before it became corrupt? I'm thinking it's because you banned euthenasia in the name of religion, but I'm not sure.

When the euthanasia issue came up, I clicked the response that said it wasn't time to decide (although religion wasn't mentioned). I'm thinking that's probably what did it, but I'd like to know how to change it.

Thanks for your responses.

The option you chose is this one:

3. "I agree, but go further: there is never a right time for euthanasia," says Bishop @@RANDOMNAME@@. "The lives we lead are given to us by the grace of God, and he decides when they end. It is not for us to question God's divine purpose, no matter how odd or screwed-up it may seem."

Had you chosen option 2 it would talk about terminally ill patients(don't remember what exactly it said), option 3 is the one that gives the "euthanasia is illegal" effect though.
