How can you tell how much regional influence you have... is there an indicator that will tell you?
I think it's in the upper right corner of your nation page.

tell everyone in the region to move away the more that move the less power you will have :p

ok, yes i see where is says regional influence, and it tells what i am.. but is there a ranking system that i should be aware of?

There is an unofficial listing of the rankings (http://www.safalra.com/special/nationstates/influence/) on Safalra's site. That's really the best I can give you.
