saw the effect of an issue descision i made, and had to share it. i said in the issue that rich people needed to be taxed much more than others, and well...

i already had an average income tax rate of 77%, and now it says high-income people have a tax rate of 100%

rich people now have no income!

what would that do for the esteem of more ambitious people in my country?

its not complete sociallism, only the people who would normally make the most money dont make any. but because of my high civil rights, my citizens can prolly choose their occupation, meaning the (un)wealthy can find a lowerpaying job or get their salary dashed, and start having a choice where it goes.

the more money you have, the less it benifits you. social commentary anyone?

"High income" is not necessarily equal to "more money". You just have to look for the loopholes.

In Frisbeeteria, the corporate magnates that run the country have huge stock portfolios. Our tax laws differentiate between "capital gains" and "salary income". Only the latter is taxed.

If our tax rate went through the ceiling, the executives would voluntarily reduce their salaries to the equivalent of $1 / year, "in the interest of the national economy and for the benefit of the downtrodden workers". They'd still get their stock options, of course. The fact that market forces conspired to allow them to cash out their billions in stock value at need is irrelevant to tax policy.

Play the game. Don't let the game play you.

private business is outlawed in 1337phr33kia, so investing is out of the question. it sad, yes, but i figure its the only way to safeguard my people's civl rights, because now they vote for business leaders.
