Largest regions (10th September 2006)
I've updated the list of the largest NationStates regions, and it now has brightly-coloured up and down arrows to make it look like a proper chart:

Safalra, would you mind if I added a link to your list of the largest regions to the Gameplay Sticky?
we would be far more interested in the SMALLEST active regeons not sole proprieterships and not occupied solely by proxies of the same interests.
we whole heartedly feel these would be far more fun to play in.

Not neccesarily. I've seen some small regions that looked pretty dead, though I don't know if they were populated by real people or not.
IMO, activity is more important than size. But I still appreciate Safalra's list, possibly because I'm IN one of the large regions (The Lexicon).

There's no programatic way to measure regional activity, other than visiting the region periodically. Try region-searching on key terms you find interesting (Star Wars, Middle Earth, USA, etc) and go from there.

When somebody creates a storage region for their 200-600 puppets, or a half-dozen players store 50 puppets each, it gives a false bounce to the region. I daresay that even Gatesville and the Lexicon have large numbers of mostly inactive puppets, though they probably have more live players than most regions. Certainly the feeders don't have 5000+ active players.
