Curfew Meets Minor Opposition

Our government of Burel is having trouble deciding on the issue of youth curfew. The issue raised is as follows.

"In order to curb youth-related crime, the police have suggested a national curfew." and the arguements are

"The youth-related crime statistics in Burel are appalling," says police chief Lars Wall. "If kids can't go out at night, they won't have any opportunity to roam around in their baggy pants and backwards hats mugging the elderly and causing a general ruckus. Just last night I had to run down some punk who tried to steal a mailbox right off the post! This is getting ridiculous. Sure, it'll require more funding, but think of all the mailboxes we'll save! Our youth need to spend the wee hours sleeping or studying--not out gallivanting with their friends."

and

"I'm not a criminal just because I'm seventeen!" shouts honors student, Zeke Shiomi. "Yeah, I like to go out partying, but I'd never hurt anybody! Besides, we've already got enough problems with these pigs breathing down or necks. If anything we need MORE freedom. It's time for the government to step up to the plate and tell these power hungry swine to stop cramping our style!"

What is your opinion on curfew laws, the international opinion? Police often make the arguement that youth-related crime would lower, but almost never say what those crimes typically are. Are kids just being arrested for loitering? Besides most kids who are going to get in trouble for a real offense like arson ,or what it may be, probably won't be stopped by a curfew. So honest kids would be made into criminals when they want to take a walk in the park with their boy or girlfriend. Yet the arguement can also be made that a curfew would help education as perhaps kids would study or do more constructive activities, but shouldnt that be a choice for the kids who put an effort forth to participate in them? Why make criminals out of people just based on age? Often the arguement against curfew is also accompanied by "police need less power" which is a real problem. Which would you go for pro or anti curfew?

Please take this issue to your country's leaders and ask of them what they think.

We are currently leaning for anti-crufew but are worried about safety for all our people.

They could make a curfew all they want is those kids are like me they wouldn't get in trouble cause they'd be wasting their life playing video games.
