Working Communism?

Well, my nation is currently a shining example of a perfectly functioning, democratic, liberal nation with an incredibly strong (read: Frightening) economy, that also happens to be communist (read: a 100% tax rate). I've actually been trying to lower my tax rate for a while, but it never seems to want to drop below 100%. For now, I guess I'm just going to have to live with this completely paradoxical country.

the original philosophers behind it knew that a socialist state had to be liberal. The people ARE your government. Everyone associates communism with oppression, buts thats just cause the soviets were like that.

Yes, but the problem is, that concept cannot work in real life, and if you tried it, either your economy would be in the shit-hole pretty fast, or some dictator would try to seize power.

Problem with communism in the real world is, as I see it, the money would have to be shared out among everyone. People would work, give their money to the state, which would get redistributed, so that even the lazy people who don't work hard would get paid the sam as those who do. People will become disheartened and lazy, as they will get paid the same whether they work hard or not. The only way to control this is by punishing lazy workers, which will lead to a totalitarian style government.

This is pretty simplistic but I can't be bothered to think right now; just got up.

That's actually not a bad way of putting it, Haerodonia.

"In theory, there is no difference between theory and reality. In reality, there is."
I forget who said that.

Yes, that actually helps me clarify my view of it.

Nationstates is a game of theory and concepts, kind of like Civilization 3. If it works on paper, it can work here.
