I don't quite understand what an Armed Republic is can somebody describe a real life country in the world today that is an "Armed Republic?"

Well, it's not a name most nations would use on themselves. Much like nations rarely call themselves "The Brutal Dictatorship of Whosit" even if they really are such. As for what it is, well... I would say it's a republic with a heavily armed populace or very large militia.
Historically, you could probably call The Republic of Texas an armed republic.
