Why bother asking?

My country stopped being an autocracy, suddenly it's a police state, and the emperor is gone, I don't remember being asked about that. If my character is dead now or out of a job why bothering asking me to make decisions?

Part of the appeal of this game is to get an answer to "would I be a decent world leader", if the game is biased from the start, if the game decides things for you, it ruins the experience. There needs to be more player control.

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Well apparently your not because you did not read anything about the game. A good leader pays attention to the rules and details.

You can role play having a certain political system, even if doesn't mesh with the one described by the game. For example, my nation, for the longest time, had no legislative branch, but the game still acts as if you do.

If you don't agree with what the game says, role play otherwise.
