Hello everyone, I'm new to this game and I'm still trying to figure how things works. Anyways, I'm looking to join a region. Can I please get some suggestions?

I would say that the first thing you should ask yourself is what do you want in a region? Are you particularly a fan of something like Megatokyo, Tolkien or anime? In that case a region built around such a theme where you can hang out with people of similar interests might be what you are interested in. Are you interested in forum RPing? If so you might want to check out the part of the forum that deals with that and by seeing which players are active you might get a feel for which forums would be supportive of that impulse. Likewise, if you're interested in "wargaming" you might want to check out the posts that list invader/defender/raider regions. If you don't want to feel "just on of the crowd" then you might want to avoid the larger regions (Larger in *this* context being anything over 20! :p ). Or if you want to feel that strength of numbers is one your side you might want to deliberately seek out such a region. Another question you should ask yourself is how do you feel about the UN? Something to really sink your teeth into or the Lamest thing from the Lamest planet within the the Solar System in which all lameness was spawned? If the former politically active regions are worth seeking out. If the latter avoid them like the plague! ^_^;

Either way, creating your own region would also be a legitimate thing to do. :)

But before you begin figuring this out you must ask yourself just what it is you want from a region. Once you know that the answer shouldn't be too hard to find. ;)

BTW, while I'm thinking of it permit me to invite you to MiddleEarth. If you want small and friendly then we're a good place to look. :)

If you intend to spend most of your time on the forum without getting involved into regional politics (and particularly if you intend to role-play a Future Tech nation), feel free to journey into Cosmos (http://www.nationstates.net/region=Cosmos). Currently we don’t have much of a regional activity in there (but who knows, perhaps you’ll be the one to change that?), but I will be glad to help you around the NationStates in general and/or role-playing in particular.

Solarlandus is right. Lord of the Rings themed regions are the only way to go.

Although we are a large region (of over 290 members), we are very welcoming and will attempt to help you as much as we can in finding your "NS feet".

We're not very active on the actual NationStates forum, but our regional forum is very active, both with things like role-play, chat about general things like the World Cup and other current topics. We also have a nascent election system and constitution for selecting the leaders of the region.

On top of this, Europa also has a wide range of contacts with other regions.

So, if any of the above is of interest to you, I recommend checking out our region, or at least our region forum to see what we have to offer.
