Simply because one nation is bigger then another doesn't mean they would over-whelm them Think of a war of China vs. U.S.A. Chuna has a WAY larger population, but he military is roughly equal. My nation has 1.4 billion people in it, and I think the way the RP'ing is done, should change so someone with a HUGE popualtion, can't just overwhelm a small nation.

Economic rating definitely enters into it, as referenced in your USA vs. China example.

Remember, though, this is all freeform. There's no mechanics beyond some calculators that aren't meant to be definitive anyways. The way small nations avoid being overwhelmed by huge ones is they don't go to war in the first place.

China's economy is quite good...

and i believe chinas military is far far larger than the american. this is balanced slighltly by the americans special forces, technology and belief that every one they have invaed is a terrorist nation ( true (so far ))

The USA is far better at projecting its power across the world than any other country, including China. But there is no way we could invade China, as they could field an army as big as our whole population.

Population isn't the only factor, but it is significant. IMO, it's really more of an issue if one nation is small, since it probably wouldn't have the resources of a large nation. Between two large nations, the larger one may still have an edge, but that doesn't guarantee victory.
