It's not especially difficult. An elf can hold an AK-47 just as easily as it can hold a long bow. The trick is to find people who blend fantasy and modern tech and see how they do it. Since this cooperative roleplay, all that matters is that both sides agree.

You can look around in NS and II and see people blending. You could also hit your local library or bookshop and do some browsing; there's plenty of titles out there that involve magic in the modern (or future) age.

What about dragons? I mean like the intelligent ones that you can talk to and ride? Can I also replace an airforce for a flight of Gold dragons?

I don't see why not - a dragon force rather than jet force. You just have to decide what parameters your dragons have - their airspeed, turning radious etc, and stick to it when you write up their actions.

Look for any of Mercedes Lackey's Urban Elves books, or Emma Bull's Bone Dance, among many others.

Come over to the NS forum and take a look at my Night Life RP's (http://forums.jolt.co.uk/showthread.php?t=476561). Set in 2010 it has elves, vamps, magic, gods ( well a crochety Bastet who feels she hasn't been worshiped properly in far too long )

Look at Tarlachia's Techtonic Shifts - vampires, Elves, Psionics, and Demons.

Just decide how you magic works, what mucks it up and run with it.

My primary nation - Tanara is future tech, Psionics, and a little majick ( they've only been studying majick for about ten years now - but then again you have the old truism of - advanced enough tech is indistinguishable from majick, and high enough majick is indistinguishable from hi tech...-
St Edmund

St Edmund is modern-tech, more or less (slightly more advanced in a few ways, but on the other hand [for example] we still make quite extensive use of airships), although a small proportion of its population consists of Ouphs (a type of Elves) or Ouph/Human hybrids and there are also some talking cats around. We don't have any of the more flamboyant forms of 'magic', but can achieve some results by summoning & influencing various types of spirits...

Ginet is a land of shamans, voodoo, and other magic. They also have several major airports, and are working on nuclear power.
