It can be a made-up one, as long as you describe it.

Our national sport is laser tag, but not how you would think of it. We modify actual weapons to fire lasers into sensors covering the players' bodies. Therefore we play it with infantry, tanks, helicopters, patrol craft, etc. The rules are few in number and basically are:
1. No killing other players
2. No accidentally killing other players
3. No sending players into a coma or vegetative state, this includes accidents

Physical contact is allowed, but frowned upon.

There is also a version that uses prisoners but let's not get into that...

Fencing is common in Romanar. Fencing scars are considered a badge of honor.

In the event of a draw, the team that has knocked down the their last target in the match first is the winner.

The sport goes back to ancient times, when it was used to settle the smaller disputes beetween the many nomadic tribes that existed in the area which is now Swilatia.

Replace the football with a nuke, then at a random point in the season, detonate one match's football. Then make attending football matches comulsory :D

Great Eastern Plains dosn't have a national sport - we are trying to be so little nationalistic as possible. A great deal of the population does, however, enjoy playing chess, and this "sport" is very popular on the biggest TV-channels.

It is in a huge, glass sphere, filled with water.
Teams are made up of 5 people.
They use light mouth breathing equipment, that last 15 minutes. (Length of each quarter)
When moving, players MUST be holding the ball is their hands (The ball is heavier than a "soccer" ball, but not as heavy as a bowling ball, if you left it in the water unattended, it would stay in one place.)
To pass, the player drops the ball and kicks it. Same for shooting.
You can get the ball off a player in any way possible, short of hitting them.

My National Sport, is Blitzball. Blitzball is a dome filled with water wher players play in. The game is muhc like football except that you must be able to hold your breath the entire time. Several thousand peopel come to watch these events.

Blitzball was originally introduced by the mother nation of Tyrantis...and we brought it with us to our new nation. :D

Ours is parkour. LOW GRAVITY parkour. Orbiting around the moon can be alot of fun when you have some imagination.

Groups build a vehicle from a basic tractor, making adjustments to the suspension, tyres and engines, then set off on a course to see who can jump over the most pedestrians without clipping any. There is a trophy awarded for the longest distance, along with rewards for best design, fuel economy, modifications and also most deaths along the way.:headbang:

The National sport of Pyronne is "STU PIDROK TH ROW". The name comes from ancient warriors who would pushed rocks at each other. No one in Pyronne know why but it is tradition. No one questions tradition in Pyronne. Basicly your team consists of 5 men, women aren't allowed to compete, The Guys push the rock down a hill and then try to destroy it as quick as possible. The team with the fastest time wins.(there are no rules except you can't use anything but the junk laying on the hill.) But this is expensive and we are running out of big rocks so we usually play good old American Football(the best sport ever in rl).

so i guess you could say we don't really have a 'national sport' in the usual sense. there are people who build little robots that they enter into a kind of multiteam free for all, which involves moving objects arround but not actualy injuring each other.

kind of like what humans did in the 20th century, only more like say if you had a basket ball game with five teams on the court at the same time, the court or field was equafacited and so sort of almost round only not five sided but more like nine, with the 'goal' or 'basket' in the middle. only the 'ball' isn't a ball as such, but any stray objects left lying arround. which each team must first claim, then mark indicating they have done so. at the end of the geme, all of the objects are taken out and counted, and whichever team the most objects are still clearly having been marked by that team wins.

it is the most popular closest thing to a sport we have, though it is estimated that less then 20% of use are even interested in that, other then in the fascinating designs for their robots the different teams keep comming up with.

no one ever yet has bothered to invent a name for it either

The national sports of NQDP are Painball and Gravball.

Painball is a real game that I've played with some of my friends. It's like basketball, except with no ref, no team size limits, no rules about having to dribble, and no rules barring contact. Games are full-tackle and usually have some major fights. Each team also supplies its own team of doctors.

Gravball is like soccer, but played in a low-grav environment. This means that players hit the ball high in the air to keep it away from opponents, and then do some increadible acrobatics to intercept it. Some contact is allowed. Players may also touch the ball with their hands, but may not hold the ball. Scoring is, well, complicated. Teams can gain and lose points, as well a multiple and partial points, and may be temporarily banned from winning any points at all.

The most popular game in Eugenameliorate is Chess but Go and Poker are catching up. The only physical sport is a yearly national martial arts tournament in which the grace and beauty of a style can almost get you as many points from the judges as landing a solid strike. Since performance enhancing drugs and genetic treatments are allowed the matches can get very intense and occasionally end with the death of one of the combatants.:headbang:

American Football is Rugby League junior.

We do not have one 'national sport'. Instead we have three national sports that gain much media attention. We have Golf, Sailing & Soccer! Other sports played on a national level such as Base-Ball, Rugby & the 'other ones' do not have as much attention & are not as favoured.

Golf:- Over 15 Million people play every weekend. But over 80 Million play at least twice a year. There are several channels that are dedicated to the pro-tours 24/7. In reality 2 in 6 play frequently!

Sailing: More than 76% live within 25 Miles of the coasts or Lakes of San Haven. Millions take it up, sailing around on summer nights into the horizon & take-in the views. Considering its popularity, competion has sparked up with major races happening all the time with big dollars to be made. 2 in 5 sail at least once a year!

Soccer: Once there was a pro-team or two that played, not making it into the media's eyes, a few kids would play on the spare-block & much of the community frowned upon it. Now, over two million kids play at competion level (Age 5-19) while thousands now play at state or national levels. It also, like golf has dedicated channels & media coverage. 3 in 6 people kick a ball around at least twice a year!
