Bashkar

Crime is a problem. Bashkar's national animal is the falcon, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to widespread deforestation, and its currency is the steel mark.
My current issue, however, deals with my national animal and it's supposed "overpopulation.."
"The fact is, the falcon population is out of control," says Beef-Based Agriculture spokesperson Jean-Paul King. "We have to do something about them anyway, so why not market them as tasty snacks? We could have falcon kebabs, falcon pies, falcon-on-a-sticks--the possibilities are endless! Let's not pass up this golden opportunity to provide a feast, if you will, for our economy."
Two stances claim overpopulation and the fact they must be 'culled'. Of course, my governments official stance is that we only care about our National Animal, the rest of the environment can go rot..likewise, I tend to want to boost my economy above all else. What has more weight in making this decision? The first one seems economical and somewhat smart if the overpopulation is a bad thing, but then it tells me they are almost extinct?
