For goodness sake, it makes very little difference. The UK does not want us and the ROI does not want us either. Its time for Americans to stop trying to make everything simple when it isnt.

The region is independant, they will be controlled by themselves.

(An interesting little fact)
Northern Ireland is almost like a dictatorship. The Secretary of State makes ALL decisions as to what happens here, and yet we cannot vote for the Sec. of State OR the people that appoint him/her.
