Looking for info....

Ok, i think i have the right forum here.

i've searched the stickies, and tried to search the forums, but so far have yet to come up with an answer.

Is there a guide on how to do things like locating one's region, figuring out who one's neighbors are, etc? i know where the wiki is, i know where several calculators of various stats are. But i have no idea which of the 50+ members of my region are actually my neighbors, as we don't have a map, etc. i know that NS does not dictate maps and such, but i'm looking for some sort of guide on creating one.

Other questions i am looking for answers are things like is it considered canon for everyone to be on one planet vs. multiples (obviously not including the star empires and such), how to write an effective wiki entry (admittedly, this one is probably in the wiki and i just haven't found it yet), and how do the stat calculators work (that is, how based on the actual game are they vs. whatever the creator wanted).

i apologize for my crummy search skills, but i'm truly confuzzled about some of these matters. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I think that the stat calculators (certainly the thirdgeek one) are based from data contained within the code itself, so they should be legit.

I haven't got a clue, am new to the game myself, and busy starting op a region, i noticed that you are a UN member and have in your region with many countries not one endorsement, so that's why I reply!
if you join my region, you'll have a big say in it's founding, i'll gain your endorsement for the UN, and You'll GAIN TWO ENDORSEMENTS FOR THE UN,
I think this is an offer you can't resist!

so join The Northern Asatru :D

Yes, thank you for that worthless hijack. You should have at least done some research first. No can anyone offer anything useful?

And no, worthless region adds are not useful.

Alright, well first off, no matter how hard anyone will beg or try, there will never be a map of NS. Ever. You wont ever know who your region is neighbored to or any of that jazz. There is just too much information, too man changes every day to ever know such a thing or calculate it at any given time. Now, if you'd like to create a map for your own region, I am sure there are plenty of people who are willing to help with that. (http://s13.invisionfree.com/The_Honor_Guard/index.php?act=idx)

Well, once again, we return to another reason why NS will never have a map. It just wouldnt make a lick of sense. As for the Wiki entry thing, I think that just looking over others with a fine tooth comb and seeing what you do or dont like will be good to let you know how to make a good entry, that is, if Wiki doesnt have an entry dedicated to it already. But Wiki is not a part of NS and you wont find information on it here. The calculators (by many people's standards) are horribly flawed because they make alot of assumptions and nothing is really hard wired to tell it what it needs to know.

Dont worry about it, I hope that in some way I have helped. Alot of whats going on here on NS just wont fit together well enough to give you the answers you want to those questions.

I have asked myself about the calculators, and was never given a straight answer as to how they work. I have seen countless threads asking for maps of regions and borders and even planetary ones, and all have been nothing more than laughed at and disregarded. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I figured you needed someone to answer with some substance.

Qlestine, that trick with turning all your replies into links to your offsite forums is annoying and probably counts as topic hijacking. Don't do it again.
