join my region???

just started the game so please help me...
people sent me telegrams right after i started trying to get me to join their regions...
how did they know i just started... how can i ask people to join my region?
please...?

They knew you joined the game because as soon as you start, your nation is placed in a feeder region (the pacific, the north pacific, the south pacific, the east pacific, or the west pacific) and it states that your nation was created. Many people recruit using that method, telegraming new members.
To ask people to join your region, you can do two things. Either telegram nations (in the feeder regions only), or post a recruitment ad in the regional message boards of the feeder regions. If you need any thing else, telegram this nation, I'll be glad to help you out. :)

Different regions have people that watch the feeder regions (the regions you're born in) and when they see a new nation, they send you a recruitment telegram.
Others patrol the region pages looking for nations in alphabetical order that meet certain criteria and send the telegram to them.
To invite people to your own region, first you have to create a region, then you have to create the recruitment message. Once you have both of those done, you can start recruiting from the following areas
The North Pacific
The South Pacific
The West Pacific
The East Pacific
The Pacific
The Rejected Realms
If there are other areas to recruit from, I'm not aware of them. Just make sure you do not recruit from a player created region.

Lazarus is also a region that can be recruited from. And player-created regions that allow recruiting in the World Factbook Entry, but I'm too lazy to go look for them :P
