Okay been doing this a while now and...

Are all the choices to each issue written by Michael Moore and Rush Limbaugh? Or Tucker Carlson and Bill Maher? I hate that the only options are pander to some nutcase right wing fool, or some nutcase left wing fool or do nothing. Does it get better than this as the game goes forward? If this is the plan, forcing people to be extremists, I am done.

The issue below is a great example, rather than allowing an acceptable solution of limiting age allowing in casinos, it is all or nothing. Anyone not a moron realized that the Republican/Right and the Democrat/left answers are wrong since they have failed to run decent candidates other than Dole or Mccain since the 50's. If the lesson here is that the current politics is a farce, then I think I have already won this game.

1. Social activist Hack Thiesen is outraged. "Gambling needs to be outlawed immediately. It's no wonder children are becoming sucked into the vice, with adults setting such a poor example. Gambling is a stain on Kylarian's international reputation and it must be stopped!"

2. However, Crown Casino chairperson Jean-Paul Rubin says, "What's wrong with children gambling? It prepares them for the realities of life, teaching them that success or failure is not due to hard work or intelligence, but the roll of the dice. Besides, if kids weren't gambling, they'd be spraypainting trains."

Yeah, a lot of the issues are pretty extreme, which, although it is to an extent the point, can get tiring. There are some good, sensible issues, though, with two or three perfectly 'normal' options - one on affirmative action stands out.

The answers tend to be tourqued up - which over time gives a fair representation of what your nation would look like (with some extreme language thrown in for entertainment value).

You always have the option of "dismissing" the issue, which results in a centrist effect.

As for winning the game...NS was designed specifically so there would never be a "win" or "loss"...merely the pleasure of existing.

You also need to remember that this game was not designed by Americans...and left verse right has little bearing...this game, as real life, exists on multiple planes - economic left and right - social left and right - authoritarian vs libertarian...it's a little bigger than Bush v Dole.

Cheers.

It would be nice if instead of dismissing an issue there was a sensible choice. I went through the following phases:

1. Read every issue and dismiss as a last resort.
2. Automatically dismiss if the title sounded odd.
3. Dismiss everything.
4. Stop subscribing to issues.

In RL I'm a centrist. A frustrated centrist, because of all of the wingers out there (left, right). Since NS is supposed to be a place where a player can escape reality for a few minutes (hours) each day, it would be nice if the closet centrist could feel like they have a voice, other than "Dismiss."

Maybe I'll start submitting issues when my nation grows up....

Stage 3 is where I am, I havent the heart to stop subscribing yet, but I believe it will come with time. ;)
