Questions about improving my nation's stats...?

1. Although this hasn't been a problem for me so far, what issues increase / decrease my Administration budget? I'd like to keep that where it is, at a big, fat goose egg. It seems to me that all that does is cut into my other spending.

2. How do I reduce my consumption (Thirdgeek stat)? While my problems with consumption aren't as bad as some other nations (one I can think of spends about 40% of its budget on defense whereas I spend 33%, has a Frightening economy whereas mine is All-Consuming... and has less than half the defense budget I do, because their Consumption is so high.) I'd like to reduce my consumption from ~10 trillion down to ~3-5 trillion.

3. I'd like to reduce my Government Waste. I've seen nations that can get it down to zero.

4. I want to keep my nation fairly left-leaning (good civil and political liberties, decent healthcare and social welfare, preferably each about 8% of the budget) but have a good economy and high defense budget (I RP as a rather interventionist nation, so a Frightening economy and 40+% Defense is a must.)

how do you look at all that stuff?

If you want to really be able to roll out the heavy artillery, as it were, you need to keep yourself off the left side of the political spectrum as far as NS goes.

With regard to consumption, that's always boggled my mind. I have absolutely none. My country has never had any political freedoms; maybe that has something to do with it.

Bretton: I don't think so, Doomingsland has horrible consumption and bad political freedoms, and Otagia has no consumption at all and has some political freedom.

Lightning Skies: http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=Kahanistan to look at my stats. I'd have linked to yours, but your region is too big and it throws errors on Thirdgeek.

This is interesting but the website calcuator doesn't seem to think my nation exists:confused: any ideas on why not?

Consumption is GDP minus taxes; it means people get to buy what they want. Why would you want to get rid of that?

Is that a bad thing? Is zero Consumption a bad thing, cause I just looked at my NS stats and I have $0.00.

Well, yes, it's a bad thing since it means people can't buy anything, so they would technically be living in the street. All of them. That happens when you have a 100% tax rate, which means the government takes absolutely all the money they earn...

Oh, so that's what it is. I just wanted to reduce it by about half, so issues that increase tax decrease consumption?

OK, now how do I go after the Government Waste?

I'd love to reduce my law and order and increase my defense..... I never seem to gain anything from choosing seemingly good choices.
