How do I start over?

Digitov

Hi. I'm new here. Anyway, I don't like the choices I've made so far about Digitov, (Including the name itself... I tried to come up with SOMETHING...) and looking back I realize that many of the choices I've made were inconcistent with other choices. Not just because they were hypocrticical, but because I realized that if you make a decision, you got to follow through with it on other decisions because you need to stick to the same approach to keep your economy stable. Well, I THINK that's how it works...

Well, I've tried many things I didn't want to try to get my economy to improve (including allowing the mining industry to go into environmentally sensitive areas as mentioned in the description) yet it's still fragile. Is there any way I could start over? For example, could I delete Digitov and start over with a new name and the typical starting conditions of NS nations?

Hi,
First of all, it is totally legal to have more than one nation - I myself have several - so yes, you can start over and you don't have to delete your nation. However, I advise you to carry on with Digitov and correct your previous mistakes with it - a country isn't destroyed every time it reaches hard times ;)

How do I delete my nation?
You can't. I decided it's better to have people upset because they can't start over with the same nation name than people upset because their nations got accidentally deleted.

If you don't log your nation in, it will be deleted automatically in 28 days.

You can't delete your nation but you can create as many as you want and try again with them.

Thanks for the advice. :)

Anyway, doesn't your comment about countries not being destroyed every time they reach hard times... isn't that about REAL countries, or does it also apply to NationStates countries?

Either way, how do you start over then? As in, how do you create another country?

By the way;

Digitov Decides:
Licence To Breed?

The Issue
Increasing reports of child abuse and neglect in Digitov has prompted local pressure groups to call for 'parental licences'.

The Debate
"You need a licence to keep foxs or drive a car," points out local current affairs commentator, Billy Shiomi. "So why should just any random idiot get to be a mother or father? It just doesn't make sense! If all potential parents had to pass tests to prove they're responsible enough, I'm sure you'd find that it would help decrease the level of child abuse, and increase proper discipline in the home."

This is the position your government is preparing to adopt.

"This is madness!" screams Melbourne Wong. "You can't deny perfectly good people the right to bring life into this world! foxs manage it easily enough, and you can't tell me they've got more responsibility than your average upstanding citizen of Digitov! The government should keep out of such matters - I've always said social workers and welfare was a drain on the budget. Yes, there will be some sad cases of neglect, but shouldn't we be giving parents the benefit of the doubt?"
[Accept]

"The answer to this problem is patently obvious," says George W. Wall, your minister of Social Welfare. "The government simply needs to give more funding to the welfare department so that we can recruit more social workers to carry out regular checks on parents and judge whether or not they're doing a good job of looking after their children. It'll be expensive, but at least it's a damn sight fairer than licensing parents."
[Accept]
The Government Position
The government has indicated its intention to follow the recommendations of Option 1.

If you wish, you may simply dismiss this issue.

What does "dismiss" do? Make your government neutral on the issue? Does "dismiss" have a different effect if you already have an option selected?

And what about those who would cheat on the parental qualifying exam? Shouldn't there be the option of parental qualifying interview? :p

Dismissing an issue makes it have no effect on your statistics. In other words, it's basically ignoring the issue and waiting till people cool down. Your statistics and description will not be affected.

to start over you just go through the same proccess of creating a nation. Exactly how you made you first 1. Just log out and click 'create new nation'.

Thanks, both of you, that really helped. :)

Now to create a new NationStates nation knowing what dismissing issues does...

I wonder what I should name it?

I wonder what I should name it?

That depends; what do you want it to be like?

If your nation will have an oppresive dictator who will have one of his own cities nuked because the birds there are too noisey, you should not name it Democratic Republic of Happy-Wonderland Paridise, your currency should not be the fun, and your animal shoud not be the happy bunny.

If you would have a magical, paridisial utopia, do not name your nation the Borderlands of the Darkness Emperor's Evil Minions, your currency should not be the decapitated head, and your animal should not be the man-eating dragon.

Unless, of course, you run your nation like I do. My people are so happy and entertained that they do not realize that they are my obidient, brain-washed slaves.

I know this is OT, but that cracks me up.
