I'm looking for a new national symbol. Something that symbolizes my nation. I've got 4 designs so far:

ignore #2. Yes, it'll eventually be in color, no, it's not a phallus, and yes please, all opinions and recommendations are welcome. Which design should I choose?

OMG IT LOOKS LIKE A WILLY.
I quite like 5. It looks as though it could be 2D or 3D, and thus represent several things. That said, the circle of stars/spots is quite a nice effect. You could add a poll, and collect votes.

damn... the poll's not working. I'll have to settle for posts, I guess.

Ok. Is it meant to represent something specific? It looked to me like it could be a ship, or a house.
Also, have you thought about colours yet? You should go for a contrast between the main shaft tee hee and the side bits.

Well, my nation is based on the ideals of education and social justice, with, obviously, a great emphasis placed on the study of philosophy. The two bottom parts of the "shaft" represent the two sources of "better" thought, reason and emotion. Together they raise up (ideally) my nation to greatness. Whatever goes behind it will represent my region.
As for colors, I'm thinking a simple gold-on-silver, though if I'm to do colors.... hadn't thought of colors yet.

Oh, ok. In national crests, it's best as a rule to avoid metal-on-metal. But I like the symbolism. Good luck! (Come on other people: help him decide.)

Right, of course! The metal colors were referring to the insignia separately, as an emblem on a uniform, perhaps. For, say, a flag, I'll probably do something like red and orange.
And thanks for all the constructive criticism!

Methinks #1. I like circles. :)

I think the fact that, since looks like a certain part of the male anatomy, the large amount of immature people on Nationstates (not pointing fingers) will not get the symbolism. Like the idea though.
