One little decision...

I stumbled upon NationStates through a forum I read regularly and I must say I am very addicted to this game already. I find myself wondering if a law has been passed yet and what I might get next, so I check the website tons of times throughout the day.

I am really shocked by how the littlest decision can wreak such havoc on the land and my people. I try to pick what is closest to my idea of right, since I refuse to just dismiss an issue, and it can have the totally opposite outcome that I was looking for. I'm trying to work for middle ground, but it seems like I just make things worse by not just making the government take complete control over everything.

This is so much fun!! :D

Haha, I almost forgot to put in my question. Is there a way to get your animal's population back up? And forest size back up?

There is a way and you have to pass alot of enviromental laws. Also remember that this can drive your ecnonomy down the drain as a result :p

The issues seem to have less weight the bigger you get. You know, larger nations have a certain momentum. My old nation, Grand Teton, had a population of ~3billion and I'd trashed the economy in my persuit of the socialist ideal. Tried to rebuild the economy for a couple of months, and never got past good. So I started again.

I somehow have a balance of a freaky powerful economy, and environmental protection. My national animal was never in danger of extinction, nor was my economy in bad shape. I say choose a balance of both to have this happen.

It's because the game works on stats. if you have voted 20 times in favour of the ecnomically benificial option, one vote in favour of an enviromental option will barely make a dint.

But in response to the thread starter, everything in this game a series of extreme trade offs.
