Error in my country description

Great game, I've just joined, so I don't know if this is the right board to post on.

There is a terrible error in my Country description, IT SAYS "Elections have been outlawed." This is a calumny.

We have regular elections, even with opposition candidates. It's just that I, as president, decide on the winners. Isn't that what every respectable 'Democracy' does ?
I do hope that you can swiftly correct this foul slander. It was brought to my attention by the foreign minister and the population is right now demonstrating in the streets demanding that Chanklebury take legal action or even declare war on NationStates.

The cows are not giving their usual milk. This is a very serious crisis you have caused.

Hoping that it will be corrected in short measure, I am, yours, roscodagama, the Glorious President of the Everlasting Republic of Chanklebury

regards

Depending on your settings, you will get regular issues to deal with. You will have different options with each issue and your choices will effect the description of your nation. Each choice brings its own ups and downs and as your nation grows, it will evolve into whatever options you have chosen.

Well, for a start, IC (in-character stuff) shouldn't be in the Tech forum, so no, it's probably not in the right place.

Your nation description is 'wrong' only in so far as you say it is. The game engine has no way of knowing what you think - except by putting in place your issue choices. You clearly chose to outlaw elections. Also, your issue choices will lead to exaggerated descriptions - you won't always be able to second-guess outcomes.

Nation descriptions are very basic. If you want to set out a more detailed account of your nation's legal structure, I suggest you start by making a page on NSWiki (http://ns.goobergunch.net), the NS encyclopedia. Here, you can say what happens in your nation.

yeah i had a problem with that kind of stuff, I outlawed corperations from giving money to political parties, once it had passed i went from Inoffensive Centrist Democracy with a reasonable economy to a corrupt dictatorship with developing economy, any clue why this happened?

I believe (although I'd still stand by thinking guessing at issue coding is a little dangerous) because that issue assumes that if political parties no longer receive monetary donations from corporations, they would no longer pursue a pro-business agenda, and as such might toughen up corporate laws, thus damaging the economy.

well that would explain the bad economy but i dont see the sudden fall of a government because i dont allow them to become biased towards businesses

Ok, well, you'll have to get someone who knows more about the issue to answer your question, and probably in a different place.

cut out

Do you remember your first isssue about democracy being compulsory?
You probably chose the last issue saying YOU know whats best and elections are not needed.
If you didn't choose that there might have been a bug that gave you the wrong effect. I know some people already complained about that....

"Meat-eating is frowned upon"
i didnt say i didnt like meat! i said the harmful chicken farms, and inhuman animal processing should be banned.
"gambling is outlawed" i wanted it just for the bloody children.
we really should get more info about the effects of issues, they arent correct.

Remember that you are not in total control of your country. If you endorse something, your congress or parliament might take it too far.

I think this is a general problem with NS. Some of the issues have consequences that you simply could not foresee, and some makes no sense at all.

Increasingly, I find myself dismissing issues, simply because I can’t figure out what the outcome would be…
