Why cant I have a flag with a swastika on it and if i cant do that i want to know if i can have a confederate flag as my countries flag.

Swastika flags are not allowed because Max Barry, the man who personally funds this wonderful game of ours, has decided that he does not want them to be allowed.

Confederate flags are acceptable.

Of course, I hope to be the only person with a Maddox flag. ;)

And why would you want that, if not only to anger others and condone racial violence (albeit more or less indirectly).
Freedom of Speech has its' limits as I see it. When it starts to violate others' dignity, it ends just like any other right.

Really? That sucks. I was going to make a flag with a red circle with a swastika in the center being crossed out by a diagonal red line, for one of my puppet nations.

Because this game is for free speech without getting banned.

The government of Germany banned the swastika (which proves they are totalitarian themselfs), and thus the game would be banned in Germany if there were swastikas.

But in all honesty, why do you need it? The swastika was stolen from over cultures, so just steal another symbol from another culture and it can mean the same thing.

No, I mean that there's a rule on NS General (and I assume all the other NS forums) that any swastika-related debates are shut down immediately. Dunno why

Lord Schiefer, I've just closed two of your threads for being in the wrong forum and with a totally non-NationStates message. If you're here to play the game, learn how it works before spewing randomness in the wrong places.

Read before you post anymore. Start with the link in my signature, then move on to the stickies in the various forums. If I see any more of your random stuff in the wrong places, I won't be so polite next time. Clear? Good.

Posting through a lock is bad form, but I wanted to address this (valid) question.

Swasticas, in any form, are banned from flags. This is a blanket, "zero tolerance", ban. The cute little image of the figure tossing a swastica into a waste-paper basket is banned, a swastica with a line through it is banned, an Iron Eagle grasping a swastica is banned, and, yes, the Freedom Cross is banned as well. A loss for those who wish to have a Finnish medal as their flag, I'm sure.

This is done to keep things simple and clear. If it has a swastica, don't use it. Very simple, very direct. The merits of this ban are not open to debate as the final authority on NationStates has instituted the ban. There is no higher level of appeal, so attempts to argue the removal of the ban is moot.

Threads in General debating the relative merits, in an abstract way, of the ban are fine and well, but questioning the policy will not result in change. And don't make the mistake of thinking you've got a unique argument for recinding the ban; we've heard them all.

Iron Crosses, Treskelions, Schutzstaffel "lightning bolts", Confederate flags, Iron Eagles (sans swastica) and pretty much every other such symbol are not banned (nor are such images banned from the forums). I'm sure the budding Nazi or white supremicist (or someone wanting to role-play such a nation) can find something acceptable.
