Wel... what is going on?

Insane legends and pixiedance are not in the UN and there is no UN delegate. Can someone explain what is going on and why?

Probably a server glitch due to update time and the fact that even after you willingly drop out of the UN, you can still access Regional controls after your name vanishes, and last night one of the folks you mention accessed the account and banned Stars of Sky.

it should clear up tonight at update.
and technically this could also be in technical.

Loop, I believe this is a question about regional politics, not the technical aspect, and therefore belongs here.

Not all of us know that Pixiedance dropped out of the UN and turned TNP into a free-for-all. Even less of us (including me) know why. I'd be delighted if somebody wanted to answer in detail

Wasn't Pixiedance someone else's puppet? The worst kind - a gift-puppet?

Why Pixiedance / Insane Legends dropped UN is something that's probably going to be up for debate. We're not all gonna agree, and we may not all trust them to tell the truth about it either... politics ;)

The way I see it: Both Pixiedance and Insane Legends were dropping in endorsement count fast. There were a number of nations in the region gathering endorsements, and allegedly some outsiders even jumped in to help out the liberation ('rebels' or 'terrorists', some would say... especially those who are opposed in that manner :p ). It would not be long before the only way for them to hold onto power would be daily mass-bannings. Not feeling up to that task, and its consequences for any and all future gameplay by them (Francos Spain was treated generally as a pariah for the remainder of his time in NS), they hatched a different plan... they agreed with Thel Dran that he'd take over the region from them. That way he'd be the 'liberating hero', and they'd get to continue being (indirectly) in charge through Thel Dran. They go back, ya know ;)

So, they dropped UN and kicked Stars of Sky out of the region (who was ahead of Thel Dran). The only 'minor' detail was that Thel Dran had to pass the count of long-time native Lungwallabad who everybody seemed to agree should not be acted against.... and this is where it went wrong for them. Lungwallabad's endocount was upped, and Thel Dran's count was upped as well though using a rather large contingency of outside forces and thus... later in the update.

While for a long time it looked as if Thel Dran was winning, many of his endorsers had already gone through the update in a different region. When the update hit The North Pacific, Thel Dran's endorsement level plummeted as many of the 'priorly used' endorsements were removed. Pixiedance noticed too late what was happening, banned Lungwallabad anyway, but the damage to their operation was done: Lungwallabad as a long-time resident had already gone through the update itself and its endorsement count was already checked by the 'ruthless and unforgiving' update system. Lungwallabad became delegate mere minutes later despite no longer being in the region. He removed himself, Stars of Sky, and others from the banlist and returned to the region, and thus ending the reign of Pixiedance in The North Pacific.

That one update lasted so long, that Lungwallabad ended up spending only about 10 hours in the delegacy of TNP before the next update came around and gave the delegacy to Stars of Sky. I'm convinced this must be a record of some sort!

Well, the second paragraph appears a little hypothetical. But either way it all seems pretty complicated, and strange.

I would like to thank ballatonia for a great summarisation, i must admit that after i posted here i changed to the nation i have in the north pacific and asked what was going on. I found out roughly and decided to help those pushing for lungwallabad. Why pixiedance left i do not know, but it is something i would like to know. I am glad that the region is free, i think lungwallabad should be remembered for the excellent job that was done in the 10 hours lungwallabad was delegate.

Clearing the banlist, then kicking cathyy and other remnants of the alleged dictatorship was great and celebrated throughout the region. Congratulations to the North Pacific is what i say, free at last! :D

Not hypothetical at all; "glitches" of this nature have happened before, especially for those who don't understand how updates work.

Well tempting as it no doubt is to believe Ballotonia's conspiracy theories, as usual, the truth is much simpler than fiction.

The facts of the matter are these.

IP and I met through playing NS. We're now together in real life (and yes I really did move 260 miles to be with him!).

About a week or so ago we went on holiday together to Sardinia and hardly played NS at all. After about 2 days we didn't even miss it, barely talked about it.

When we came back we started playiing again until we very quickly began to ask ourselves why we were devoting so much time and energy to a game when there's a whole real life out there to enjoy.

So in a fairly instantaneous decision we just decided to quit UN.

There was no conspiracy regarding Thel D'Ran and forgive me for saying this but if there had've been we're both far too intelligent to have left Lungwallabad in the region when we could simply have banned him.

So, there you have it folks. It's a game that for a while has taken up far too much of our real lives, fighting battles that at the end of the day change nothing in the real world. And we woke up and smelt the sea air, the sunshine and the flowers :)

One question. Why are you fighting so hard against Stars of Sky? Why are you still in #TNP, for that matter?

Ah, it's such a pity when statements don't match up to the facts. Luckily for me I log everything. :p

The North Pacific

World Factbook Entry: Support your region's voice in the United Nations! Endorse Thel Dran!

Peace is being created in TNP. Do not be fooled by the unendorsement campaigns designed to destroy the peace we are creating.

Don't you love the suspense!! - lol

UN Delegate: None.

The North Pacific contains 7,964 nations. [List all nations]

Like what you see? Move Goobergunchia to The North Pacific today! * Seconds ago: The Holy Empire of Rockalopolis was founded.
* 1 minute ago: The Republic of Bodgistania arrived from The South Pacific.
* 2 minutes ago: The Incorporated States of Senile madenee departed this region for The Isles of Isolation
* 2 minutes ago: The Republic of Codswalop was founded.
* 4 minutes ago: The Most Serene Republic of Guys maybe we shouldnt was founded.
* 5 minutes ago: The Republic of Work_Damn_You was founded.
* 6 minutes ago: The Confederacy of Lungwallabad replaced The Insane Power of Pixiedance as UN Delegate.
* 6 minutes ago: The Republic of Bear3 was founded.
* 7 minutes ago: The Confederacy of Lungwallabad departed this region for The Rejected Realms
* 7 minutes ago: The Insane Power of Pixiedance ejected The Confederacy of Lungwallabad from the region.

On the basis of the evidence, I must conclude that the Pixiedance controllers failed to realize that Lungwallabad was within reach of the Delegacy until it was too late. Otherwise, why would Lungwallabad have been ejected in the first place?

Lol Goobergunchia. We posted about Lungwallabad days/weeks before this event on the s9 forum. We knew where he was and how many endos he had and many wanted us to eject him. In fact I was inundated all day with requests that we do so.

To Defaulita. I will admit it's a hard addiction to break. But at least now it's fun and we're getting there ;)

Wow a whole post and no mention of Carbonari.

anywho,
last I heard, IP banned Lungwallabad before the update, but he was granted Delegacy while in the RR and Immeadiatly "Woke up" after 9 dayd of inavtivity and immeadiatly unbanned hiself and Stars and returned to the region and hasically held it and then handed it off to her.
and I can verify that Lungwallabad was known of at least 12 hours before the Update by some and several days before by others.

Believe me, if we'd wanted to hand the Delegacy to Thel we wouldn't have waited until 2 seconds before the update finished.

The update itself was much later than usual and took over 2 hours to complete.

If we had such a great plan don't you think we might just have considered that we should ban him a little sooner?

The update of just The North Pacific took about 2.5 hours. NS was *slow* that day. When the update in TNP started, Thel Dran was in a comfortable lead. At one point about 40 endorsements ahead. As such there was absolutely no urgency in kicking Lungwallabad, and it even looked less 'planned' by not doing that.

A lot of the endorsements Thel Dran had were wiped by the update as invalid. The comfortable lead Thel Dran had prior to that quite suddenly vanished... and then Lungwallabad was ejected (albeit too late by then).

Goob is IMHO right in his analysis: the last ditch effort of ejecting Lungwallabad indicates a desire to install Thel Dran as the delegate. It also is contrary with your presentation of no longer being interested in playing NS.... if that had been true the delegate nation wouldn't have been logged in during the update to monitor its progress. It is also in contradiction with your behaviour since: heavy propaganda both on the RMB and in TMs to lots and lots of nations in The North Pacific in an attempt to undermine the delegacy of Stars of Sky. And then there's the huge fight in the IRC channel #TNP you and IP started which got you kicked off by an esper.net Admin... all took place SINCE you apparently discovered "there's a whole real life out there to enjoy."

Now, that 'discovery' may be true in and of itself, but still you've been spending a heck of a lot of time behind your computer playing NS ;)
