I want to move to a new region, but I don't want to spend half an hour searching for the land I want. I went to the find-a-region area, and apparently it's not a search engine; I have to have an exact name. I am wondering how I can circumvent that.

There is no easy way ...
But my recommendation is to watch the regional forums in the Pacifics (the North Pacific, the East Pacific, the Weat Pacific, and the South Pacific), and see if any of the regional adds that pop up interest you.
You could also just *ask* for people to tell you why you should move to their region. :)
The last thing you can do, if find out what you like about the game and join the region of one of those players. For example, maybe you really liked one of the daily issues you got in the past week. If the author of that issue is still around, visit his/her region.
