I hated algebra, mainly cause I have always sucked at it, but, I'm going to try my best at solving this from memory alone ...

Simplify : Y = ( A + B' + C' )( A + B )( C + B )

Of course " ' " isn't a mathematical symbol used in algebra, at least, not one that I ever saw, :confused:

I guess it could be " to the power of one " but you've not been very clear, I'm afraid, so that is what I will do here.

Also, usually " ( value ) ( value ) " = " ( value ) times ( value ) " if I recall right ...

Which ( to include all signs, even though we don't really need to ), gives us :

Y = ( A + B' + C' ) x ( A + B ) x ( C + B )

( Where " x " = sign of multiplication and " ' " = to the power of one )

Now, for example, with " X " (capitalised) being an algerbra value of example,

X' means X to the power of one, which is X itself. X to the power of two would give us X squared, therefore, X' means X. Again, I am having to be assuming your using " ' " as power of one.

So in all instances of " value " ' " " we end up with " value " itself.

So,

Y = ( A + B' + C' ) x ( A + B ) x ( C + B )

Y = ( A + B + C ) x ( A + B ) x ( C + B )

( Now, as I recall, you cannot add A to B, to get AB, you must do all additions in the brackets before moving out-side the signs, yet, since you cannot add thus you must multiply the matching algerbraic values in each set of brackets to those that match in another set/s, and multiply those to a power, then wih the resulting value to the power of X you arrange these for addition, like so ... )

My Final Answer : Y = A (to the power of 2) + B (to the power of 3) + C (to the power of 2)

That is as simplified as I can think I could make it.

* ( I say it ( the powers ) in words because I do not know symbology on keyboard for powers, and you can only use things like " A3 " to show how many A's are there together, not for powers, they are to be done with only addition, I am thinking )

As I said, I sucked at Algebra, so I probably made some fundamental error here, but ( shrug ) no harm in trying. Personally, I'm still annoyed by the " ' " mystery value, but, hey, it was fun trying !

First of all, this is expansion, opposite to simplification.

And some questions: 'A' 'B' and 'C' are pronumerals? or constants?

Okay: assuming A , B and C are constants, and that B' is meant to signify dB/dx, and C' to signify dC/dx.

Then logically, the given function simplifies to: A(C+B)(A+B)
(as if B is constant, then B'=0, and likewise for C'; already otherwise simplified)

You are all way off. You all appear to be using the wrong type of logic. The wrong type of algebra. If you dont recognize the formula then you've been tricked in a way :P because most arent taught this type of math (once you get it, its remarkably simple). You cant apply the normal laws of algebra on this particular equation :D. (btw, i am horrible at math) This type of math is very important in one very big industry
