Money doesn't matter unless you want it to. Check out the GDP calculator in Scolo's Big Tech Sticky in the Technical Forum.

So, we can use the gameplay forum to discuss our nation's culture (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I think it may still be a decent general guide rather than absolute gospel. National populations fluctuate much too wildly with it.

I've just read that bit and it sounds okay but it would be really good if you could actually make this game more interactive. Loads of stuff can be added to the game. I do need someone to teach me how all of this really works and not just tell me to read the FAQ. Help

If you read all the stickies in every forum you would get a very good idea of the game. Also i suggest moving to a region run by an experienced player, they will help you.

Can I ask? What's all this UN delegate stuff about?

Can I ask? What's all this UN delegate stuff about?

How come some nations get more votes than others?
Regular UN member nations each get one vote. Regional Delegates, however, get an additional vote for every UN member in their region who endorses them. This can makes Delegates from large regions quite powerful.

Delegates also have the unique ability to approve proposals, deciding which of them will become resolutions to be voted on by the entire UN, and which are silently dispatched into the night never to be heard from again. A proposal needs 6% of all Delegates to approve it to become a resolution.

Answer the question?

NationStates is a simulation that allows you to run your own nation. Each day you get one or two issues (you choose in the settings), and these issues mould your nation with the decisions you make. Your population increases about 1 million every day, though I don't know this for sure.

With each issue, certain things can change. For example:

If you get an issue that states security cameras should be set up in the streets, and you choose to do so, then in your nation's description crime would be less, I.E. from not a problem to unknown.

There are three main things that your nation's title depends on: Civil Rights, Economy, and Political Freedom. These attributes have different ranges. The worst economy you can get is IMPLODED, and the best you can get is FRIGHTENING (that would be frighteningly good, not bad). Civil Rights & Political Freedoms follow a similiar roster, but with a few minor changes. I think the best Civil Rights & Political Freedoms is EXCESSIVE.. but I'm not quite sure. There's probably a thread somewhere out there that tells you.

Anyways, you aren't in this alone. There are over 120,000 (?) NationStates currently active. Your nation starts out somewhere in the Pacific, but you can move to another region where maybe some of your friends are. Or, you could just start your own and hope people come in. :D There's even a thread in the International Incidents that allows you to advertise your region.

All in all, NationStates is really fun, once you know how to work it. Good luck with your nation! :D

could someone please give me the rating system again? emperor Mathuises link dosnt seem to be working any more... :headbang:

I'm not quite sure, but I think for economy its something along the lines of:

Imploded
Basket Case
Weak
Reasonable
Average
Good
Strong
Very Strong
Superb
Thriving
Powerhouse
All-Consuming
Frightening

There's probably quite a few holes, but its the best I can do.

To endorse someone, firstly, you must be in the same region as them. Secondly, and most obvious, you and the person you want to endorse must be in the UN. And thirdly, go to said nation's site on NS, and there should be a link after the explanation of their nation saying, "Add Endorsement" (I dont remember the exact words, I haven't been in the UN for a long time now). Click that and the endorsement should take effect within the next day or two.

Forgive me I just created a nation yesterday so I am as green as the new born grass.

Simple question is how does one improve their nation?
How can I improve my economy, civil rights, military? That kind of stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry if you've heard this before, but I'm completly lost. Would appreciate some help. I am very interested in doing this but there seems to be no set "What to do to get started". No step by step. I've looked and can't seem to find anything that would point me in the right direction.

It's freeform RP. You can RP your nation anyway you want. Your leaders could be sentient tacos if you wish.

It doesn't exist. All national actions are either determined from the way you answer your issues or through role-play in the "NationStates" and "International Incidents" forums.
