May sound a bit like a hippie answer..
But seriously, the goal is what you yourself set it at. You have different ways of 'playing' the game.

Hi!
When you say different ways of playing it, you mean only that the aswers you give to a certain issue have an influence on your nation configuration, isn't it?
Are there other ways of playing it?
Best regards

To become the ultimate evil in all the land and rule raining hellfire and brimstone upon those that strike you as insolent.

There really isn't one. A good thing to aim at might be a delegacy.

That is the beauty of this game. There is no set goal. But there are a variety of ways to entertain yourself while you procrastinate from work.

I for one am a defender. I defend other nations who are invaded. I am also the Founder of my own region. My goal is to create one of the biggest and best defense-oriented regions in NationStates.

Others role play. I did that for awhile. Back then my goal was to be the most interesting writer I could be.

Although few achieve this, many consider becoming the Delegate of a feeder region the highest goal in the game. Berhampore, former Delegate of The West Pacific puts it very well. Below are his words on the topic.

The point has been raised that I do not have the time to devote to this post. While I disagree with the general characterization that accompanies this, I agree with this point – I have steadily devoted less and less time to NS. This has been true for quite some time. After my last bout of endorsement swapping, and my feelings of actual resentment that I had to ‘work’ in a ‘game’ I had to be honest with myself and review the reasons for that. In short, I already achieved my goals. I chose to stay on until the end of the year. Its now time to move on.

To be the Delegate of a Pacific is the pinnacle of achievement in certain aspects of NS. I achieved the Delegacy not in an end to itself, but as a means to an end. Long ago I ran across the pro-Constitutional work of Freedom and Pride and felt compelled to make the West Pacific a functioning democratic state. That goal has been achieved. While some things, ideas, people have since then sparked my interest, I cannot in honesty say I am as fully engaged as I could be. While I made sure a democratic state took root in this region, there is no way I alone can ensure it survives and thrives. By its very nature it belongs to the community at large. So: you have a democratic republic, if you can keep it.

I hereby resign as Delegate of the West Pacific effective immediately.
