POLITICS:
A president is elected every 5 years (maximum) by the public. They then elect a Cabinet of 5 Ministers:
Vyce President
Economic Minister
Home Affairs Minister
Foreign Minister
Defence Minister
The United States of Mars is divided up into 100 regions each with its own Member of Parliment (the President and Cabinet Ministers are all Members of Parliment). That member of Parliement must come to parliement at least once a week (unless circumstances make that impossible i.e. foreign vists, illness etc.) and at on the first meeting of the week all issues they have will be put forward for a vote. If the proposal is passed with a majority vote then it will be put forward to the Cabinet who will take a vote on whether it should proceed into the next stage. If it is, it will be taken to Parliement and discussed, changed if necessary and then a final vote will be taken and if passed it will become law.

History: Founded by a group of people from many Earth nations who wanted to start a new country. After realising Earth was not an option for a country, the group developed transportation and terraforming technologies and eventually created a fleet of 27 colony ships which took 6 hours to reach Mars. Once there, they used terraforming technology to terraform an area of Mars into a hospitale enviroment and on 24th April became the 30th earth colony on Mars.
