I'm confused! This is supposed to be like a game, correct? Well.. what is there to do on this site OTHER THAN talking in the forums, and doing the once daily issues? I'd love to be more active on this place, but I'm not sure what to do!

You can be in a region. You can also have two issues twice a day. Plus add resolutions to the UN. If you want you can join my region. We have 46 people and are very active and new.

Well, Max never intended, to my knowledge, for the game to get this popular, which is why there are so few features. This is why NS2 is being planned, and will be jam packed with features not seen in NS1. Also, the game is what you make of it. If you can find an exciting way of playing, then go ahead (as long as its within the rules). Many people write extensive histories for their nations and have well developed characters as well.

I don't believe the forum was even part of the original game.

To change the amount of issues you receive, in your case to get more, in the left hand frame of our nations page click on 'Settings'

Below your e-mail address there is a drop down box, this will set the amount of issues you receive as well as how often.

Enjoy. Also, perhaps you could try playing more than one nation at a time. You can then follow different paths on different issues and they how differently your nations evolve. Also, you can join the UN, the rulings of the UN will have consequences in the way your nation operates as well.

Otherwise you can just flame trolls in the forums!!!!!SHIFT+1!!ELEVEN!!!ONEHUNDREDANDELEVENTHOUSANDONEHUNDREDANDELEVEN!!!! (Sorry)

Welcome to NationStates, Whatarewecalledagain.

First, in terms of this site, noob is a term reserved for players who are, well, clueless to a degree that they come off as jerks. Consider yourself a newb, which is someone who is new to the game.

Otherwise you can just flame trolls in the forums!!!!!SHIFT+1!!ELEVEN!!!ONEHUNDREDANDELEVENTHOUSANDONEHUNDREDANDELEVEN!!!! (Sorry)
Do NOT do this. Flaming, even if it is a troll, is a violation of site rules, and will land you in trouble. Remember, play nice. Be civil. We're all just here to have fun.

As to what else you can do here, as ITD said, this site was just made to sell a few books. Players have added a bit more which has made NS addictive for so many. Some players roleplay their nations in the NationStates and International Incidents forums. Read the stickies in those forums for more information. Some players engage in 'region crashing'. Refer to the FAQ and the relevent stickies in the Moderation forum for more information.

You can join the UN. Participate in the debates in the UN forum. You can even come up with your own proposals, but read the stickies in the forum first, and read what other, more expirenced players do. I believe you will need two other endorsement from UN nations in your region to submit a proposal.

You can come up with new issues. You will need a population over 500 million first. That will give you time to read the stickies in the Issues forum to see what makes a good issue.

You can design your own flag, make a map for your nation, dream up a history for your nation. A lot of NationStates is what you want it to be.

[edit] Also, hunt around for a region that interests you. Often, they will have offsite forums that add to the NS experience.

Yeah, sorry about that, I didn't mean that part - I'm just in a nutty mood.

We welcome intelligent discussion and interesting conversation on the forums and even the occasional laugh - but no immature flaming so ignore that part. All the trolls require is patience, other than that it's usually a whole lotta fun.

Enjoy :)

Use your keyboard and mouse to type it up/draw it.

This is a freeform game, you just type what happens to your country, there's not acutal "war" or "map and history" features.

Try NSWiki if you want to make a history.
