What does this mean?

The three catagories that describe my nation is rather odd. For 'civil rights', it says 'superb'; for 'economy' it says 'basket case'; and for 'political freedoms' it says 'world benchmark'.

Is there a page I can go to that describes the levels of the three catagories, because the last two are confusing.

Basically, it means your civil rights for your people are good. Very good in fact. Your economy...well, just like it says in your description, it mainly consists of kids selling lemonade or farmers setting up little stalls next to thier pickup and selling homegrown vegetables. The political freedoms are incredible, you let the people vote on everything, probably each law that's past.

Be careful about the World Benchmark political freedoms, though. If it gets much higher than that, then it's so high that it's bad.

The game doesn't alway make sense. Today I received an issue - "Big Business was threatening to leave my nation because of too many regulations". Capitalism is illegal in my nation. How can I have big businesses existing there?

Communist businesses were threatening to leave. ;) It means your economy is about to thrash about in its death throes.

Wouldn't benchmark be very bad? I mean, a mark on a bench is pretty damn small. . .

benchmark as in: A standard by which something can be measured or judged

so its good because the world judges how the state of civil/political rights is based on your country.

The three scales simply guage your national politics. Your levels show a tendency towards excessive civil rights and political freedoms and your economy is more or less horrible, although that may be just how you want it. A lot of nations are proud that their economies are "basket-cases" especially if they are socialist.

The three scales are exaggerated however, as this quotation from the FAQ shows.

Everything is exaggerated a little. Well, okay, a lot. Your decisions affect your nation very strongly, so your country might seem like a more extreme version of what you were aiming for. Unless you have radical politics. In which case you probably think nothing's wrong.

Yeah... the game does get strange like that. It's because the issues are prefabricated for every nation, so sometimes there are references to things that would never actually happen in your nation. Just ignore that part. ^_^
