Trying to understand the UN

Howdy,
 I'm new to this. In real life, I'm opposed to the UN. However, for the sake of gameplay, I'm entertaining the idea. I don't care much for the idea of being bound by other countries policies. :headbang:
I've read the FAQ on the site, but still have some Q's. First off, if I join the UN, can I drop out of it whenever I want, or does joining mean yer in for life (like the mafia or somethin?)
If so, if I drop out, can I rejoin later if I had a change of heart or braincells or am just plain wishy-washy?
If I'm the only country in my region, do I automatically become my own delegate if I join the UN? Or would that mean I just get to go by what everyone else wants? :mp5:
Also, how exactly does joining the UN affect my country? Other than the obvious, I mean. I know I'm bound by UN decisions, but what's the norm affect people expierence; their populace jumps for joy, shoots a governor, fondles themselves furiously, or what? I suppose that's more of a poll question.
Anyway; any ideas, tips, advice, or covering of something I've yet to think of would be appreciated.

You can resign from the UN at any time.

If so, if I drop out, can I rejoin later if I had a change of heart or braincells or am just plain wishy-washy?

You can rejoin with the same nation so long as you have not been ejected from the UN for rules violations.

If I'm the only country in my region, do I automatically become my own delegate if I join the UN? Or would that mean I just get to go by what everyone else wants? :mp5:

You don't become a Regional Delegate unless you have the most endorsements in your region. If there are no other UN nations in your region, you can't get endorsements, and therefore can't get the Delegacy.

You can, however, represent your nation on the UN forum and by discussing ideas with other nations through other means.

It affects your national statistics.

In response to the title, don't bother, you never will. :p

First off, if I join the UN, can I drop out of it whenever I want, or does joining mean yer in for life (like the mafia or somethin?)

Yes, to leave the United Nations, just go to the United Nations page and click "Resign" at the top. It will be in the same location as the "Apply" link was before you joined the United Nations.

If so, if I drop out, can I rejoin later if I had a change of heart or braincells or am just plain wishy-washy?

Yes. And rejoining is exactly the same as joining for the first time. You will have the same time restraints and application process.

If I'm the only country in my region, do I automatically become my own delegate if I join the UN? Or would that mean I just get to go by what everyone else wants?

To the first question: You must have at least one endorsement to be the Delegate. So if you are the only nation, or even the only United Nations member in your region, you cannot become Delegate.

To the second question: I am not sure what you mean. The Delegate does not necessarially have to listen to other nations in the region... Could you re-phrase the question please?

Also, how exactly does joining the UN affect my country? Other than the obvious, I mean. I know I'm bound by UN decisions, but what's the norm affect people expierence; their populace jumps for joy, shoots a governor, fondles themselves furiously, or what? I suppose that's more of a poll question.

Because you are bound to United Nations decisions, if a resolution is passed, it can and will affect some of your national policies, although usually only minimally. The ideas you suggested would be role played. And of course, you have a vote in United Nations Resolutions.

Anyway; any ideas, tips, advice, or covering of something I've yet to think of would be appreciated.
