I recently joined NS :) and am wondering about all these alliances and wars and politics. i just need someone to explain some of this to me so i can get involved when i have a decent sized nation (so i don't end up getting nuked by trousers outta the blue)

Ahh i love this its all in your mind.
You dont actually get real armies but you buy them what you do is Role Play as in you make up a wonderful story and then you act on it your not gonna SEE a whole bunch of your cities actually get blown up in front of you but someone may say they have attacked you then youd post casulties.
For instance if i say
"Today the Glourious Nation of The Confederacy Of Harlesburg has attacked the Nation Of Hasselhoff it has sent in 42 Divisions of which 8 are Armoured units 400 F-15's have begun bombing your cities and 40 B-52 are doing the same."
Apart from the fact that was crappy it dosent mean your nations dead
