Dear Comrades of NationStates,

We are a recently established Union of People's Republics, who have based their Methodology on Marxism-Leninism-Maoism. We ask for a little techinical help in the area of establishing our military, for as my Regional Founder has notified me that we are in war. I have a Population of 12 million Determined and Partiotic people who will stand for our established Socialist Nations. Our high command has decided to have a military comprising of 7% of our current population. Which would come to 840,000 men and women in our military. We have also decided to split it in the formation in the People's Liberation Army having 400,000 men and women, the Red Naval Guard having 250,000 men & women, and the People's Red Airforce composing of a population of 190,000. Now I pose the question to any comrades who can help, can I have an arm special force outside of the military...sort of like militias or armed civilians? I also ask if this chart would be right, and would be confirmed by your wisdom..

At this point in your development I don't think it would be very realistic for your military to make up more than 1% of your total population. Even this may be a little generous, seeing as how according to This (http://nseconomy.thirdgeek.com/nseconomy.php?nation=Maoist+Nations) you have a military budget of 520 million.

We ask you friend to look at the situation. Can we have the same number of troops as we have posted earlier, just with not advanced weaponry. If our Army can rely more on Protracted War measures with a larger force than a more "American" style professional force with high tech weapons. For example, we can make the PLA of my military the larger force with more possible backward weapons, and the other wings a little less fucntional because those wings require more finances, while an Army that relies on Protracted Warfare Tactics does not require nearl the same subsistence. It would somewhat like this, PLA (People's Liberation Army) having almost 690 k of the proposed 840,000, while they remain a little backward in concern of weaponry. While the other forces, in comparison, have a 90,000 man Navy and 60,000 man Airforce. If this acceptable, please notify. So it would look like this..

Democratic Reublic of Maoist Nations Military: 840,000 men and women
People's Liberation Army: 690,000
Red Naval Guard: 90,000
People's Red Airforce: 60,000 (Reminding they are not technologically advanced)

If we were to work in the more 1% standard. Then we would have a 120,000 man Military. Which er find less suitable, but suitable nonetheless. We would think that, once again, the bulk of our force would be in the Army. Sending 90,000 Men and Women in this part of the military. While our Navy is 20,000 and our Airforce is 10,000.

Also in the future can there be a armed force outside of our National Military that runs like a paramilitary force, special force, civilian militia, or terrorist organization?
