So... Why did you pick your flag to look they way you did?

Mine looks... well. The way it does because:

Red for the blood of our people
Green for the forests and jungles
Blue for the oceans and open sky
Pink & purple stripes to represent our national animal (the Cheshire cat)
Orange for Cheetos
And the platypus.... because I like platypi.

I chose my flag while perusing a liberal web site... I just liked it, as I like to think it's how I personally (OOC) view my relationship with America as one of its citizens. The American flag, in essence, protects me in my right to freedoms. Sappy, I know.

I just set out to make mine "orky," though the Orc flags of Warhammer influneced the design alot.

Our flag looks theis way because of the history of our nation.
11 blue stars the 11 nations that united in to 1 nation under God.
1 red Star the united nation of Hagge
1 Planet under God.
Yellow background is for the Sun
White strips for the unity of all people in the Nation of Hagge
Red Strip is for all the blood that was spilled to unite the nation.
Hylls
29-11-2004, 17:24
I chose my flag as a turtle! It is the natinal animal and is also a symbol of slow, relaxed movemnet and (when really required) quick (under water). Slow to define our laid-back nature and quick to have fun!
Snake Eaters
29-11-2004, 17:31
Mine is a cobra, as befits my nation name. The Snake Eaters were the tribe that founded my nation (MGS3 anybody :)).It also reflects my peoples nature. We wish to avoid conflict but we are very dangerous when we choose to strike out. We strike hard and fast, do not like prolonged conflict as a rule, and our marks are long lasting
The Emperor Fenix

It represents the setting sun... as the nation of Okyto as always looked towards its end, as it has no begining it can remember and lives in peace.

The spoon (top left): One of the main religions of the country.

Kronos (bottom left): Also one of the main religions of the country.

Hammer and sickle (top right): Socialism/communism.

Stalin (bottom right): Also socialism/communism.

Imperial insignia (centre): Imperialism. Red on a black background because they're my favourite colours. Plus it looks cool. :p
Suiiki
29-11-2004, 19:39
I chose my flag after a friend of mine found a doll making website, and I made a doll for each of my RP characters. The one featured in my flag is Suiiki, the character for which my nation is named. Suiiki is a necromancer based on some ideas from the Sabriel books by Garth Nix, and some of my own ideas. She also represents me a little bit, I suppose, because Suiiki is trying to find her way through themysteries of life and to understand some the things that make her human. The night sky in the background kind of adds a mysterious/magical feel to it, in my opinion, plus I like the night sky. O_o

Picture of flag: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v369/Kumi_Izumi/Newflag.png

Is it OK if later I post about my original flag (also custom)? I changed it, because the original flag was very poor quality, having been scanned.
Cherry Ridge
29-11-2004, 19:46
Mine is the seal of the Inquisition, just a little more fancier.

http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/sco-land.jpg (http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=sco-land)

The shovel stands for agriculture (ok,for diggin'), the pickaxe for mining, the hammer for construction and the cog for technology. The background logo is that of the "Emperor's Hammer", of which SCO is the "Science Office". :D

That is a nice flag!!

I needed something sinister and powerful...
A black dragon on a blood-red background was rather fitting, I thought.
Southeast USA

Because my country was meant to be what it would be like if the South split from the USA.

hey Myrth,
I thought that saying was by the Nazi propaganda minister, Gobbles; "A lie told often enough becomes the truth."
Oliverry
01-12-2004, 18:24
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/oliverry.jpg

The blue symbolises the lakes and coasts that the nation has. The green symbolises the great amount of life that Oliverry has and the red means the lives that soldiers gave to defend the liberty of our country. These are separated by curves to symbolize that life is not a straight line but a curve where anything can be changed by a decision of the person or of the country.

I'm designing my flag right now, shall post in a little bit.

The red is the color of the workers' struggle for the full product of their labor. The black field is the negation of authority. The diaganol positioning of the red and black fields represents soliderity across national boundries. The white dove carrying a molotov cocktail represnts our commitment to avoid conflicts in which the ruling class pits worker against worker, and also our embrace of the international struggle of the exploited masses against the opression of capital and the state.

Blue is for the seas we've never crossed
Red is for the blood we've never shed
Yellow is for the reason why

Goebbels, you mean. He wasn't a turkey, I assure you. :D
The Phoenix Milita

This is my current flag
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/the_phoenix_milita.jpg

but I'm thinking of changing it to this because its sharper
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/the_phoenix_militia.jpg

Either way, the red represents both the red skies of arizona and the blood spilt to get our freedom and the black represents the darkness and ashes from which we came and the phoenix is, well a phoenix

International Terrans
01-12-2004, 21:40
http://www.nationstates.net/images/flags/uploads/international_terrans.jpg

Because it looks cool, has a picture of the Earth to represent terrans from an international background, and has stars. Stars are always nice for flags. And it's on black, black flags own. ;)

In conclusion, my flag rocks. Thanks to Thracia for making it from my original, crappy one (the same design, just much worse).

Mine was originally made by loop... but it wasn't exactly what I wanted and looked sort of messy, so it went through about 500 thousand different revisions, and is currently at the one posted above... A pigeon, because my national animal is the kamikaze pigeon.. a pigeon surgically implanted with C4.. a katana because we have random people flipping out in my nation. red background, yellow stars, because I wanted sort of the communist feel, because I believe communism would work awesome in a perfect world, but since we will never have a perfect world, it won't work, so I'm therefore not a commie... and I think that covers it (i'll edit if I missed anything).

oh and also thinking of replacing the katana with a ninja flipping out

edit: was putting in the ninja, and just decided to leave the ninja out and take the katana out

I would like to give you a huge poetic explanation, about how the four quarters represent the four species united under the Love of The Lords.

But we have only three species, so that would be a lie.

The truth is that when we joined the UN, we figured we needed a flag, and this was the one that was flung together by one of the councillors. He added the national motto because he had some extra black thread.

It's just a piece of cloth with two colours of dye in it.

The Top black represents the void before being born, the Red strip represents life and the bottom black represents the void after death :fluffle:

I put an S on my flag...

The S stands for nothing really... It just looks cool sitting in the middle of a white surface.

The hyena is my national animal, the red stars are a socialist/bolshevik symbol. Everything else was a matter of 'I'll do this and it'll look more like a flag'. The hyena was actually the most recent addition; it took me an hour to draw that!
Markreich
02-12-2004, 18:36
Markreich's national animal is the Neon Tetra, and it just happens that the Lichtenstien flag resembles a neon (or cardinal) tetra. The crown is also convenient, as we're a Duchy. :)

Maubachia
02-12-2004, 18:43
http://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/index.cgi/target=display_nation/nation=maubachia

Maubachia's flag is a drawing of the town of Maubach, in Germany from 1685. The town was granted to one of my ancestors by a german prince for service in war, or so the story goes...

Not too shabby, eh?

believe it or not...

I've had an archive of pictures of chickens, Tommy Cooper and ginger people on my hard drive for 3 years, I felt that I should finally use one of them.

Blue represents freedom and justice.

White represents purity, and well being

Green Represents the lush forests where the sasquatches roam free
