Greetings all, a warm welcome on behalf of the Armed Republic of Aliste,

I have created a region known as the 'Conservative Bloc'. This region will be welcome to all nations with a moderate to conservative viewpoint.

I myself, fall somewhere on the political spectrum between 'independent' and 'Republican'.

If you'd like, please feel free to join my region by clicking your current region on the NationStates menu, searching for "Conservative Bloc", and then moving to that region.

Together, we can be strong. Ethics enforced. Prosperity protected.

What would I do there?

Hello Maniaca.

Well the purpose of regions is so that nations with common interests can conversate, and grow stronger.

You see the U.N. delegate elected in a region gets more votes on a U.N. resolution for all of the other endorsements that they have by other nations of that region.

From the FAQs: "Regular UN member nations each get one vote. Regional Delegates, however, get an additional vote for every UN member in their region who endorses them. This can makes Delegates from large regions quite powerful."

Yup! Heh.

So if you'd like, I'd love for you to join my region and perhaps endorse The Armed Republic of Aliste as the U.N. delegate.

Together we will grow stronger, freedom is on the march! :)

You know, the Free Trade Zone could use more activity and a UN Delegate. And motivated free traders. Why don't you join us? :)

Santa Barbara,

Thank you for the generous offer! But you see, I prefer being the founder and U.N. delegate of the region.

If I go ahead and join your region, there is no guarantee that I will be made delegate - right? So I don't know.

I may be better off where I am now - although your region has a fairly large group of people.

If I were able to get maybe half of those people endorse me as U.N. delegate I'd join in a heartbeat and have the three countries now part of my region join that one.

The Armed Republic of Aliste.

EDIT: But I don't think that I could get that many endorsements, and I think I'll just work on trying to get my region to grow larger.

However, feel free to telegram me anytim you'd like. I'll add you to my dossier. We need to support each other. Heh. :fluffle:

You want to draw people to the community in order to get more endorsements as the delegate in the UN; that's fine, but for what end? What's the program man?

Well I hate to go back to this whole 'Left vs. Right' thing. But let's face it, there is a strong liberal influence here - and I think more moderate/conservative nations should team up and form their own regions so as to support common goals.

My region is just one that is moderate/conservative - and we'd be happy to take in others.

But I urge others to maybe start their own regions and elect strong delegates - I'm pushing for organization really amongst the moderate to conservative nations.

I agree. The right certainly needs to organize here more and overturn some of the excessively liberal UN resolutions. I would imagine that most right-wing people see the leftist lean of the UN and are turned off from participating and thus committing their nations to its rules. But really, despite what the FAQ says, what's stopping you from not following the rules?

Maybe there aren't enough people on the right even playing the game...

I have just moved to the Conservative Bloc and applied for membership in the radical UN. Not because I aprove of it, but to help change it. :mp5:

A region chock full of conservatives, eh? Kind of like placing all the "questionable" kids on the small bus.

Another conservative cult convention, you ask me.

And you didn't, so I will depart. :sniper:

Maybe some basic things we should cover here. Add to them as you see is necessary.
Abortion: in any form except in the rare and extreme circumstance of the mothers life should be outlawed.
Stem cell research: only in support of proven adult stem cell research.
Homosexual agenda: it is a choice, not a privelaged minority. There should be absolutely no support of any kind for same sex marriage, partnerships, civil unions. Absolutely no requirements for an institution of any kind to support via health insurance, rights of estate and so forth.
Religious freedom: There should be no sponsorship, financially , by the government except in cases of social charities that should be eligable for government sanctioning. No laws against elected officials or government employees endorsing publicly their faith.
Will add more later.

Fellow NationStates,

The 'Conservative Bloc' is growing, slowly - but surely.

Kingsland has roughly outlined the Conservative Bloc agenda, and I hope he won't mind if I contribute.

1.) Abortion: I think I speak for all of us in the Conservative Bloc when I say that it is in our opinion it should be outlawed. There is no scenario that we could come up with that would justify the taking of an innocent human life - no matter that it is preborn and in the early stages of development. Also, with research, it has come to our attention that the 'woman's life in danger' scenario is nothing more than a smoke-screen. A mother's life put in jeapordy by the pregnancy does not need an abortion, she needs surgery. The purpose of abortion is not to save a woman's life - it is not a surgical procedure. There has been no condition known where the abortion procedure(s) could be implemented to save a woman's life. Against abortion - in all cases.

2.) Stem Cell Research: Once again, I think I speak on behalf of the Conservative Bloc when I say that adult stem cell research should be supported and funded as it is promising. However, we will never support embryonic stem cell research. Embryonic stem cell research, in our opinion - is simply frivilous now that research has shown that adult stem cells can be reprogrammed to be just as potent as embryonic stem cells. Also, the research (embryonic stem cell) is unethical in our opinion - taking the life of a human (yes we consider the embryo a human life, as does science) in order to make the life of another a bit better - is unethical. But once again, embryonic stem cell research can offer nothing more than what adult stem cell research already has.

3.) Religion: There should be a firm seperation of church and state. No particular religion, Judeo-Christian or not, should be favored by the state. The people should have the absolute right to worship freely. We consider this a right and not a privilege.

4.) Economics: Raw materials being scattered, free trade makes sense. But responsibility and ethics must not be forgotten, to take advantage and exploit smaller nations/regions is in our opinion - unethical and unfair. All parties involved should in some way benefit - no one party should dominate.

5.) Gun Control: It is the right of the people to bear arms. A disarmed population is a population at the mercy of crime. Simply put, outlaw guns and only the outlaws have guns. It is in our opinion, the people have the right to protect themselves - however we will support common sense resolutions where there is a waiting period, background check, etc.

If you like our agenda, please feel free to join our region. The Conservative Bloc.
