Socialists and liberal nations alike, your attention please.

In these times, conservative nations have begun to prop up and clan together. While these nations have every right to exist, some are posing a threat to liberal beliefs and to ourselves.

Clearly, there is a need for common defence...

The Allied Socialist Union, a very experienced region, offers you to join our leagues. Due to several members becoming inactive and deated, our numbers have dwindled to a low number.

While small in numbers, the ASU has existed for a long time. While most of our nations are younger, we are strong since we are commited to each other. If you join us, we will grow and become more powerful and a major force in the NS world again.

Please consider joining our region.

interested, can more information be provided please?
Aztec National League

Sure, happy to provide it.

While currently, the ASU is not very active RP wise, there are two prominet nations, myself and Blargistania (member via puppet.) We have two UN nations, Surda and myself, me being the delegate. So far, we have not had any major conflicts and are not in conflict with anyone. Although originally a more moderate split off from the Red Bloc Army, our two organizations have headed in two different directions, with us taking more peaceful and less authoritarian measures.

I am looking for good NS players, whether they be new or old. Also, I ask that your civil and political rights be average, at least. If you are a UN nation, I will listen to your concerns and comments and weight that in when voting for a proposal or resolution.

We've been at "Scandinavian Liberal Paradise" for some time so no problem with the civil and political rankings. We've also had a frieghtening economy for more then six months. Although we're not a UN member (some might call us a "puppet-state") we're very interested in getting back into RP after a general quiet.

On the "socialist" front are socialist economic policies enforced?
Aztec National League
12-11-2004, 05:32
Not forcefully. While socialist policy is ideal, private enterprise and capitalism are welcomed. The only stiupation is we would like to see is progressive policies, such as pro-worker, pro-enivronment, ect. Each member has a large degree of autonomy.

The Hesperian Republic of WesternAustralia has a long history of progressive social policy and has active environmental policies. The government would like to ratify membership.

I can understand some of the left-wing concern, but so far I haven't come across any right-wing opposition. If you think about it, if the righties are clumping together, it means less of them around us.

Any chance we could sneak in?
Our 'Political Freedoms' rating is at Unheard Of, which would put us outside your rules, but it's mostly for RP reasons - allow me to explain;

Our leader, Premier Maksim Romaninko, is what you might call a benevolent dictator - he remains in sole charge of the country, though his cabinet is elected by a democratic process which cannot be overruled by him. Romaninko himself is mostly a figurehead, used to symbolise a strong hand at the helm to the people of Kelonia (given his revolutionary hero status). The actual government is made up of a group of 15 people in charge of various departments, who are voted into power by the Central Committee (not to be confused with the Governmental Comittee, which is the Central Committee plus the fifteen people they elect and Premier Romaninko), made up of the democratically-elected governors of the seven states. The governors of the Consolidated Territories of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan (Earth II) do not get a vote.

Anyone may run to be a Governor, and there are no official political parties, though several set factions do tend to occur in every state (This is why I can't vote to create an opposition party in that particular issue, the most common one I get - there are no real parties to oppose!). Officially, Premier Romaninko has been in sole charge of the country for nearly 22 years. His policies (and the driving direction of the Governmental Committee over the past decade) are based on having as little negative interference in the lives of his people as possible, while closely monitoring and funding essential public services and taking an interest in curbing the abilities of corporations to affect people's lives.

I like to consider myself (and my nation) a mixture of Libertarian and Socialist, but every time I have to vote against the issue to create another party it knocks my Political Freedoms down several ranks, though I've been trying to improve it ever since I got bored of playing as a Communist Dictatorship. You can read a basic outline of our political ideology over on the NS Wiki (http://ns.goobergunch.net/wiki/index.php/Socio-Libertarianism).

Good, always nice to see people respond.

First:

WesternAustralia, your request to join to accepted. Please feel free to join us at your lesiure. I look forward to working with you.

Petsburg:
Yes, you may join. I have looked over your stats, and they are more the impressive. You do not have to be a die hard pure socialist to join, we just prefer liberal governments.

Saltania:
Your stats are deffinatly acceptable. It doesn't so matter what your UN classification is, but rather as long as your nation is liberal. Please feel free to join us.

To Insequa:
While many right wing nations do not pose a threat, there are many that do. There are many that do. Several nations have gone to war against each other jsut because of politics. Right now, my own nation is in a cold war with another nation, Aztec Lands, just because of the ANL's political stance. I believe right wing nations have as much right to exist as liberal nations, but nations of common interest are in need of common defense.

To Kelonian States:
While your political freedoms leaves much more for desire, your civil rights are decent. However, I understand that how you respond on the daily issues
and UN resolutions can put your nation's stats out of wack. Reading your Wiki entry, I must say, your system doesn't seem so bad. With the consideration that you are trying to improave and what you say your system is truly based on, I will say you are welcomed to join, but please do try to get those stats up.

My nation has an interest of joining your region. We are young, but we believe that we have the sufficient stats as well as the pro-environment stance. At the time of this post being, well, posted, We are a Scandinavian Liberal Paradise, with the following stats:

Civil Rights: World Benchmark
Economy: Fair
Political Freedoms:Excellent

Current Location: The East Pacific[We want to move, though]

The Rogue Nation of Kasiko is a huge, environmentally stunning nation, remarkable for its absence of drug laws and anti-business politics. Its intelligent population of 304 million enjoy extensive civil rights and enjoy a level social equality free of the usual accompanying government corruption.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent, liberal government stops and the rest of society begins, but it juggles the competing demands of Social Welfare, Education, and Healthcare. The average income tax rate is 48%, but much higher for the wealthy. Private enterprise is illegal, but for those in the know there is a slick and highly efficient black market in Furniture Restoration.

'Mountain Doobie' is widely regarded as the nation's favourite drink, the Supreme Court protects civil rights and the right to privacy vehemently, the nation is currently revamping its entire education system, and every product goes through extensive safety-testing by the government. Crime is totally unknown. Kasiko's national animal is the Spoony Bard, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the Bang.

I am interested in joining your region, but first, my statistics. Be aware that my economy is still developing, and that's why my income tax rate is disturbing.

Statistics:

The Free Land of Durdani
Motto: "You are not your job."

UN Category: Left-Leaning College State
Civil Rights: Superb
Economy: Good
Political Freedoms: Very Good

Location: Europa

The Free Land of Durdani is a large, safe nation, notable for its strong anti-business politics. Its compassionate, hard-working, intelligent population of 45 million enjoy extensive civil freedoms, particularly in social issues, while business tends to be more regulated.

It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins, but it concentrates mainly on Social Welfare, although Healthcare and the Environment are secondary priorities. The average income tax rate is 100%. The private sector is almost wholly made up of enterprising fourteen-year-old boys selling lemonade on the sidewalk, although the government is looking at stamping this out.

The government is spending millions on alternative clean-burning fuels, several citizens have complained about scientists abducting their pets for experimentation, the nation's infamous boot camp is more brutal then most battlefields, and flash floods that dams could have controlled regularly ravage small towns in mountain valleys. Crime is well under control. Durdani's national animal is the wolf, which frolics freely in the nation's many lush forests, and its currency is the credit.
