Actually, this is a couple of days late, but still...

It was Sept. 24, 2003, when I first heard of NationStates. Being interested in government, I decided to give this game a whirl. My previous attempts at creating a successful national power (Civilization 3, Age of Empires II) were fiasco, but I decided to try this game.

I remembered several things, such as my first, second and third unsuccessful storefronts, and my factbook for New Genoa's NS World Factbook (my factbook in still a work still in Progress.) My first major RP, a diplomatic conference held by Rotovia on behalf of Reformed Oceania. My second Major RP, the Third World Solidarity Conference, held by Tannah Burrang. This conference got me in touch the CACE (for those who don't remember, the Collation of Anti-Capitalist Economies.) I also remember my alliance with Russian Forces and always trying to become the forefront of Communism. My secret spy RPs, my failed conferences. I remember when my nation population hit 500,000,000, and I could rename my nation's title. I remember my first civil war---what a great RP that was...I remember when my nation's population hit 1,000,000,000. I also remember my more recent spy RPs with Communist Mississippi/DA.

Needless to say, I have spent a lot of time on NS. A habit I hope to see continue. We have seen players come and players go, but NS continues on.

I remember when NS was more simple...less wars. The only thing people argued about was economy. The CACE and WBo always arguing...ahh, those were the days. But now, NS is a bit more interesting.

I also remember, when I first joined NS, the main page said "Over 500,000 nations served!" Then it went up to 600,000. Then 700,000, and now it's over 800,000.

I will assemble some of the links to my better RPs in a while.

However, I have some questions:
1.) Where has [violet] gone?
2.) How long has teh NS2 concept been around ?(I remember it when I joined NS.)
3.) When was the last case of the pop bug?
4.) What was the name of the original forum hosts?
5.) Will NS ever close down?
6.) Are llamas better national animals then squirrels?

I'll try to answer those questions.

1.) Where has [violet] gone? - She was gone? I think she (or he, if VIMB) is just busy.
2.) How long has teh NS2 concept been around ?(I remember it when I joined NS.) - I dont know. Perhaps June last year, roundabouts?
3.) When was the last case of the pop bug? - I've no idea, but they wiped out the bug by April.
4.) What was the name of the original forum hosts? - Ask [violet]. (Oh wait, I mean Ask Max Barry.)
5.) Will NS ever close down? - Damn no!
6.) Are llamas better national animals then squirrels? - No, no, no, no, no!

1) she is around, have you checked the news page lately? ;)
2) it was before that... there was a survey running asking who would play it when I joined up here in March.
