Which is the oldest player created region?

I have no idea to be honest, I've seen plenty of old ones.

It will be more than likely that a real world themed named region without a founder. This is a region I think before Jan 2003. Which leaves two months in which it could have been created in. (Game opened to public in Nov 2002)

Actually thinking about it, I doubt even Game Admin can tell you that, dates when regions were made aren't recorded anywhere.

So heres to hoping a really veteran player can remember!

Do you know the oldest nation? I spotted one over 4 billion.

No, the oldest one recently died, it was 'Josovich' of something like that, obviously there is a new one, but I don't know who until the UN rankings come up.

I know I'm pretty high up there, but I'm not sure who would be top is Josiovich is gone.

Josifovitch was not the oldest, he was the largest. Big difference there. Thomasia, if he's still around, is the oldest.

I /think/ Alcatraz is a pretty old region.

As I understand your population size depends on the number of issues per day, number of logins etc, so the largest nation may not necessarily be the oldest. Can't say anything about oldest region though, sorry to hijack your thread.

Sorry, but no. Neither issues nor logins affect nations size. Age and a small element of randomness are the only factors.

Thomasia is still the oldest existing nation, I believe.

Not true. Last Hope is the oldest, its owner just neglected it and it ceased to exist, but was revived again shortly after.

I know Urbanites was founded early in 2003, January/February I think. Established before I started playing NS, and my nation is 3bn+ ...

Wish I had a quid for everyone who's asked "why don't you have a founder?"!

There is a now inactive nation in my region named East Squalidistan whose population is 4.05 billion, which I think is one of the biggest nations right now.

No, they don't... Sal and countless other mods have said that issues affect absolutely nothing other than your national description, not your population.

I think Nasicournia is pretty old.

I don't think so...that nation is just passing two billion. Even though it has been pointed out that population grows randomly, being over two billion behind the highest population, and behind me personally, I don't think he's the oldest :)

By the way, when is the next UN Ranking on population gonna come out? I haven't seen one in months...last I checked I was in the 12,000's overall.

Nasi's a region, not a nation - that nation is just an embassy.

I would also like to see it again, I think its the most interesting and certainly my favourite one. I was in the top 1000 last time, Jan 03 was my founding date, despite what the forum says, RAA!

Josovich was not even created in the first couple months of NS. Population bug does not equal oldest nation.

North America is pretty darn old. I went there on 27 November 2002 so it was in existance before then. Old, founderless, regions had a founder installed with the help of a mod. Caffeinneburg was created in December, but North America is older than its founder.

Axis of Absurdity is from November 2002 (I actually did found the region way back in the dark ages), back when there were only about 30-50 regions or so in existance. It probably is not the oldest, though - I created it within two days of starting here, and my country is in the top 150 in size, so it likely is rather close, certainly percentage-wise.

The only non-player-created regions are the feeders:
The Pacifics (5 of them)
The Rejected Realms
Lazarus
Pope Hope

Nasicournia was created before Pope Hope was founded. I was appointed founder after residing there for about half a year or so. The region has been around for well over a year and a half now, but I doubt we're the oldest. One of the oldest at this point? Probably.

How old is USSR?

I'm quite old, founded sometime in mid November 2002 (It says I joined the forum on the 27th November 2002, but I had existed for about a fortnight before I registered). I was in the oldest 50 or so extant States in the list on the old board.

Texas is old, but I don't think anybody currently there remembers far enough back to say much about it.

The oldest regions are the ones you would expect. Europe and North America are ancient. My own Meritocratic Isles were started in week two or three.
