Argh! I Don't Get It!

My economy sucks for a country of my size, I have a mere $25,000 per capita GDP and it hasn't improved since last December. The thing is that I've ranked in the top 15,000 in every industry ranking for at least the past three months and probably longer. What the hell do I have to do to get some improvement?

Top 15,000 is not really all that good, and Powerhouse is not the top Economy ranking either. If you're an old nation and you've had a consistant anti- or lukewarm- business position, it's really difficult to improve your economy. Just start adopting pro-business positions and wait for months.

This is what I would do to improve your economy.

First, go to your Settings and choose the two issues per day option.

Then, keep choosing pro-business, pro-economy, pro-money regardless of the impact on the civil rights and political freedom categories.

Next, just keep doing this until you gain the desired results; it should turn your UN Category to Capitalist Paradise in a minmum of 4-6 weeks.

Erm, I am a Capitalist Paradise and realize that Powerhouse isn't the best economy, which is why I want to improve my economy. And I've been going strictly pro-business for weeks now, the problem is that I don't get many chances to make those decisions.

"Weeks" is not going to do it if you've been less than completely pro-business for 14 months.

That's ridiculous, I've bumped my economy in less than a month before. I just don't get why it's not working now.

I've been having the exact same problem with taxes. I have chosen to cut taxes in the tax related issues now for two months and still have a 97% tax rate. Oddly my tax rate jumped from 49% to 100% in one day in June. I've never thought the issues had much to do with actually changing anything, and I'm still of that opinion.

I have noticed that my tax rate increases 1% every other day no matter what issue I choose. I've been watching it very closely.

Fourteen months? I don't think it's that dire...if you're desparate, do everything that's pro-business, cuts taxes, screws over your environment and the working class. It should pick up sooner or later.

'The Zoogie People' started out with a liberal government and a 'good' economy, which dipped to Reasonable for quite a time. It was created in November, and only jumped to Thriving in late January. By 'jumped,' I mean one day the economy level was 'good,' and the next, I allowed corporations to donate to politicians and it was 'thriving.'

Ilek-Vaad, Zoogie People's tax was in the 40-50% range and I decided to cut it down, and in about a month it's at 0% now. O_o. I've been trying to get it to a more ideal level, but it's down to 0%. My problem's the opposite of yours, heh.

Can we get a mod to split my tax rate between us? ;)

If you get the right issues, you can change it in days.

Look for the issue about people protesting cars with bikes (2 wheels good, 4 wheels bad), and choose the 3rd option to give car manufacturers money. That'll help out a bit.

what is the highest economy level then?

Frightening.

Also, as long as it doesn't hurt business, always choose options that improve your civil rights. I've noticed that the more civil rights you give your people, the more powerful your economy gets. But don't improve your civil rights at the expense of business. Only if the issue doesn't have a pro-business option. I hope that made sense.
