OOC: This is most likely gameplay. It gets very, VERY deep in the RP here, there's even separate websites set up as storefronts for these things. Very cool. I'm effectively receiving this lightspeed transmission 34,000 years after you made it, since I'm in space and very far away from you, so how I'm managing to respond to you in your twenty-first century epoch is a question for the physicists. However, it's good to know my nation will be around thirty-four millennia from now!
EDIT: Ah yes. OOC means out-of-character, otherwise I would be in the guise of Chief Director Josef Hanson of The Green Lion, Edge Territories. Enjoy!

roleplay? ha, if you know where to look you can get guns, I've bought like 20 AK47s this week alone off NS...
no, not really this is all roleplay in the forums, and it's generally easy to know if someone is IC(in-character) or OOC. Especially since almost all of gameplay revolves around OOC questions and responses. Don't worry, you'll pick it up.

Technically, unless you role-play out various UN situations that could be played (there are endless amounts of them), then, the UN doesn't really do anything to your nation on that end of the spectrum.
However, once you join the UN, from that point on, your national characteristics can be changed by passing resolutions, just like issue choices change them as well.
