ADN, NPO, Meritocracy... These names seem to be tossed about quite often throughout the NationStates world. I hate to bother you all with my ignorance, but... Can any of you gals or guys tell me about any and all of the extra-regional associations, alliances, brotherhoods... of NS?

Well, I'm not sure about the others, but the NPO is the New Pacific Order, a group of people in the Pacific region who run it.

Hmm... that link only has two organizations listed... and I thinkn they a 'rp-orgs'... *confused*

ADN (http://s3.invisionfree.com/ADN) == Alliance Defense Network, the largest defender organization in NationStates.

NPO (http://newpacificorder.proboards19.com) == New Pacific Order, the dictatorship ruling the Pacific. In an opposition similar to the Cold War with the ADN.

The Meritocracy (http://merit.jink.org) == An organization, comprised of several regions centered around The New Meritocracy, that is based on its Senate and includes many of the more influential members of NationStates.

Too many to count....it's really best to ask on a case-by-case basis.

For example, there's the RLA – Red Liberty Alliance – a left-wing grouping of 7 regions, primarily a defensive alliance but now developing a diplomatic and cultural dimension. (Of which Goobergunchia is the General Secretary...)

Raid?

These outside organizations can add a whole new hue of colors in terms of playing this game. I've all but become a shut-in (or out) in terms of using thee forums since they changed servers, but I am very active on some off-site forums.

Off site forums are a great place for planning or even RP if you prefer that over invading, defending, or simple politcs. There are some sneacky aspects for politcs, both for good and bad (which ever side you choose to play), and off-site are the only way you can talk with a large group and insure that unsavory characters aren't reading everything thing you say.

The only thing is, they may have spies trying to get into your forums, so you really have to know who you say what to.

Probably more then you wanted, just wanted to highligt there are so many aspects to this game, and off-site forums are great opportunites to tak the game outside of where the boundries end on these servers.

The ADN functions much like the real-life USA, the Meritocracy somewhat like a Roman Republic, and the NPO is a dictatorship (whether it is Benevolent or Psychotic depends on who you ask).
