What is your national currency?? If you want to, you can put a picture of your currency symbol. Or you can tell why you picked that currency.

My currency is the dema. The dema symbol looks like this :

Ð

For example: The minimum wage in Vistadin is Ð8.50

The Currency of the Roycelandian Empire is the Imperial Wibble.

For reasons that have been lost in the mists of time, the Imperial Wibble is rendered as "$".

The Imperial Wibble is divided into 100 Cents, rather conveniently.

Imperial Wibbles are the official currency in all Roycelandian Colonies, and is freely exchangeable on the Foreign Currency Market.

With one of the World's strongest economies, it is difficult to gauge the Imperial Wibble in comparison to other nations, but it is beleived that IW$1=USD$1.6864, or thereabouts.

Thirdgeek says-
$1.000 USD= ~€1.2794 KDK
€1.000 KDK= ~$0.7816 USD

In Tespaatraa, Kredaakraa means "Official Money Credit" or "Official Doller" if you loosely for the latter. Bills are 1 and higher, Coins are 1 and lower (There's a 1 Kredaakraa coin and bill, yes.). The prefixes are have Centi (€0.01), Quitto (€0.05), Deci (€0.10), Quati (€0.25), (nothing) (€1), Penti (€5), Deka (€10), Vige (€20), Peka (€50), Hecto (€100) to mirror US money. (IE, a Pekakredaakraa ("Pekakred") is the equivilent of a $50.)
The cent sign for Kredaakraaz is Ç.

Samiropolis
16-07-2004, 03:15
The currency of Samiropolis is the Blessed Papal Toenail, lovingly referred to as BPTs. Of course, these are not real toenails, but a small crescent of gold. This dates back approximately 200 years ago with the formation of Samiropolis by Pope Samir (Now referred to as Pope Samir I). In return for a favour, he would give the person a toenail clipping. These clippings were very coveted by believers, and they became handy in bartering. Pope Samir II (who succeeded his father by will of the people), having lost a leg a the war of righteous independance, would have halved the nation's economy by his lack of toes. Realizing this, he instituted the current system.

The currency is denoted by ^, as in ^5 per bag of apples. There are no small forms of currency, as decimals were outlawed by Pope Samir I as a tool of the devil. When a foreigner complained about the currency resembling the exponent symbol, exponents were also outlawed, as they interfered with our internal matters.

Arterial Leakage
16-07-2004, 09:36
The debit ( D! ), was chosen as the currency of Arterial Leakage after it was realised that many other nations had serious difficulties with our original gold based currency, the Vitae. This was originally calculated as being a function of the amount of blood in the average human.(Approx 4litres). There being 10 cups/100 sips/ 1000 drips to 1 Vitae. 1 drip = approx 4ml of blood. The exchange rate to gold was 1 cup/troy oz. This apparantly upset the international community because it appeared to mean that we value human life at around US$4000.00/person.
The change to the D! was achieved by renaming the drip as the debit, adding a new, lower denomination coin, called the seep ( s! ) and discontinuing the use of the old higher denomination names.
Therefore, D!1.00 is approx = US$4.00.

Ingaevonia
16-07-2004, 10:15
The currency of the Holy Empire of Ingaevonia is called the Mannus.
It is named after the mythical forefather from where all Germanic peoples derive. As the Ingaevonians are a Germanic people, just like their Liafgardian and Xantanese neighbours, we hold this ancestory dear.

The Mannus comes in coins of:
0,05
0,10
0,25
1
2,50

0,01 and 0,02 have been discontinued because it served no purpose anymore.

And in bills of:
5
10
25
100
250
1000

All the coins have the profile of our Holy Imperial Majesty on one side and the Coat of Arms on the other side, along with the value of the coin. On the rim of the coin is written: "Gott zy med ons" (God be with us in Ingaevonian).

All the bills feature a portret of our Holy Imperial Majesty on one side and a piece of scenery of famous event of person on the other side. Our IIM 5 bill for instance has the Gottfried Cathedral in the capital of Thrudheim and our IIM 25 bill a painting of the legendary prince Aethelbert, the latter emperor Aethelbert III, (1779-1843) at the Battle of Vyersprongh in 1813 against the Rawnaï enemy. :)
Note: one must make a distinction between the Ingaevonian Imperial Mannus and the Xantanese Mannus. The exchangerate between the two is: IIM 1.000 = ~ XM 0.823

:)

Glam land
16-07-2004, 10:27
The Republic of Glam Land uses The Poseur as it's high denomination currency.
100 Neds = 1 Poseur.
Unfortunately due to Fluctuations in the International Money Market, our currency does not trade internationally. No Poseurs may enter or leave Glam Land. Any visitors to Glam Land may exchange Hard currency at any of the State Bureau D'Echange Offices. Residents of Glam Land are forbidden from offering currency exchange facilities to aliens and any caught doing so are expelled from the country.
If anyone would like to visit Glam Land (and believe me as the most genetically pure and perfect humans on the planet you most certainly would like to) all currency entering the country must be declared at customs, upon leaving the country all receipts must be shown and reconciled by the state customs auditors, if any discrepancy is found in the visitors reconciliation a fine of 1000 poseurs or the equivalent in your own currency is charged.

Statement issued on behalf of the Treasury of Glam Land.

Umbica's currency is the Tallero.
Originally it was a huge gold money, with submoneys made of silver. Now this currency is still usable but since
1953 the Ministery of Treasure has started coining new paper-money with a nominal value.
Now we have One Tallero coin, huge and golden, and a Half Tallero, called Tallerino. The Paper coins are looking like the oldest Italian liras you can imagine, 10cm long and very decorated. They are 5-10-20 and 50 Talleri value.
Imagine that with 500 Talleri you can buy a car so we have some little moneys called Carlini wich are cents to tha Tallero.
The symbol is the T and for the Carlini the C
So, for example 132 T and 32 C

Rejistania
16-07-2004, 10:47
Rejistania has the lil'kansu (plural: lil'kansu'ny) as currency. There is no lower unit since $1 = 1100 lil'kansu. Due to this exchange rate, it might be considered a weak currency, but actually was started with such a value to avoid the need of a lower unit and fractional numbers. 'lil'kansu means 'to have a value'.

MicroGlup
16-07-2004, 12:43
MicroGlup believes it's currency holds the answer to everything from easy international trading to the end of debt - say hello to the Glop!

The Glop is produced by each individual according to their needs by simply picking up a handful of earth and mixing it with a little fluid till it makes that lovely "glllop" sound - that's it!

Most citizens just use water but some of the trendier types say that liquid soap produces a more satisfying "glllop" - but either is acceptable.

We have found that as the Glop isn't the easiest currency to carry arround few of our citizens feel the need to carry any at all - they simply mix them where and when they are needed! If nature does produce the occasional horder, well, who cares anyway?

The Glop can neither be de-valued or over-valued since the amount of earth available is finite and cannot be changed by anyone.

Vive la Glop!
The Wyrd Wyrm
16-07-2004, 13:27
Our currency is the obligation.

This prevents massive inequality, by ensuring that everyone can at most have no obligations. Every obligation represents a favour owed to society in general. When someone gets goods from a shop, they also get obligations, while the shop loses them (and will accept more from it's staff in return for hours worked).

This does make exchange rates tricky, but currently we believe one obligation is valued at about -0.63 USD.

The government deals with foreign currency, and if private enterprise acquires currency from foreign bodies, the government will buy it and use it for trading on the international markets. This measure is only necessary because some countries will stick with an archaic system. Any countries adopting the obligation as currency should telegram our foreign minister and possibilities of freer trade will be discussed.

Everyone is born with obligations, calculated by the government. When society does things for you, you accrue obligations, which are reckoned by the government based on what is done. The government rewards exceptional contributions to society by accepting some of your obligations.

Measures are in place to prevent people accrueing more than a reasonable number of obligations. To pay for housing in a hostel will cost you a few obligations, but you can do this with any amount of obligations. To buy a luxury car you must have very few obligations, which prevents people who can't afford things from buying them anyway.

An example of this currency at work is given by Mr Smyth, who was not treated well by his parents. As a result they have acquired obligations from him. These obligations have been replaced by the necessary social welfare groups that have helped him cope with his traumatic childhood.

The Waka

The ancient Palladian Empire began the tradition of using the waka, which were palladium coins of a few limited denominations. After being conquered by Imperial Ninjao, Palladians were forced to use Ninjao's strage imported paper currency, though after Ninjao's collapse, the new Free Land of Palladia returned to the waka. From this point onward, the waka was a series of palladium coins as well as small bars of palladium, used for larger denominations. Of course, both were alloyed to stretch the palladium reserves.
Today, the Technate uses energy credits. Though still called wakas, the energy credits are non-transferable, and are one-time electronically spent units to measure each citizen's energy consumption. Energy credits are used like currency in most ways except not being able to change ownership.

True wakas are still used in the remains of Ninjao, Seppuko and the Technate's capitalist offworld colony of Shertaeth. Shertaeth uses electronic wakas, though, not physical paper or metal money.

The kevinngzh
18-07-2004, 14:53
The Nation of The kevinngzh uses the kredit. No particular units are used and the word kredits is placed at the end of a price (eg. 2.95 kredits). There are multiple demoninations of the kredit coin. They include:

Milikredit (0.01 kredit)
Centikredit (0.05 kredit)
Decikredit (0.1 kredit)
Subkredit (0.5 kredit)
Kredit
Squarkredit (2 kredits)
Semikredit (5 kredits)
Decakredit (10 kredits)
Quarterkredit (25 kredits)
Hectokredit (100 kredits)
Kilokredit (1000 kredits)

However nobody attempts to remember the anarchic terms of kredit demominations. Citizens simply refer to coins as "kredit coin" or "10 cent kredit coin". Paper is not used in the currency as it is weak and easily destroyed. Coins are much durable and long-lasting.
Claraxia
19-07-2004, 08:30
The basic unit of currency used in Claraxia is the TROGDOR, named in honor of the mythical icon of Burnination; the fractional unit is the penny.
This is another one of those currencies that only uses coins, the denominations of which are listed here:

(copper:)
1p = Penny
2p = Twopence
(steel:)
5p = Fivepence
10p = Dime
(blue colored metal:)
25p = Quarter
50p = Half-trogdor
(green colored metal:)
₮1 = Trogdor = $1.75-$1.80
₮2
(past this point the coins are octagonal, and the largest of them is 2 1/4 inches across and 3/8 inch thick)
₮5
(red colored metal:)
₮10
₮20
(violet colored metal:)
₮25
₮50
(silver:)
₮100
₮200 (2 1/4 inches across, 3/8 inch thick)

There are even larger denominations yet. These hexagonal coins have not been minted since the mid-70's.
₮250
₮500
₮1000
₮2000
₮2500 (5 inches across, 1/2 inch thick)

As you can see, the symbol for the trogdor is ₮ (aka Mongolia's tugrik sign). And yes, the ₮2500 coin really is as big and thick as the list says it is.

Everything is bought through credit cards in my country. It saves us a ton of money so we can spend it on something else that has more of a purpose. Yes, it does have the problems with hackers and credit theives but we spend a good amount to keep our citizen's well earned credits in the right place. :)

ahh chunky green soo close

our unit of currency is the pint, one pint is worth aproximately 3.90Euro, but it depends on where you are, in quiter towns pints are valued at a more moderate 3.30Euro.

but it doesn't really matter as citizens of Ulthanash shelwe haven't seen pints in many years, income tax is running at 100.000001% and tax on drinking is 49% while tax on producing currency is 105%. While all this may appear a bit taxing on the citizens, its for there own bloody good.

althouhg having poured thousands of pints in the space program we've seen no result, though some people have been reported as being swimming in pints.. this is as yet unconfirmed...

Betland's national currency, the Solar Unit, is actually the basis of a group of nations who share the same currency. The group is called The Common Currency Pact, or C.C.P.

The Solar Unit is only worth a small fraction of the dollar, usually falling between 13 percent and 21 percent of the worth of one U.S. dollar.

It is basically a unit of worth that is derived from the amount of energy in a certain amount of sunlight. The most common symbol used to indicate solar units is the greek σ or simply an s.u.

It is usually transfered by identification card or small bills.

In this fashion, it is similar to a credit card, but Decca 'cards' are actually the size and shape of a USB Ram stick of today, and is known as a Decca Stick. Some persons go so far as to having proximity chargers embedded in their hand. To confirm a payment, the user simply swipes their hand over a sensor and the purchase is charged to their account. Another, more disposable, form of making payments is to have several 'empty' Decca Sticks with you. These can be encrypted in seconds with a predefined amount of Decca, then given to whomever the payment is for.
