Depends on what you want to do with your nation. From the day I created this particular country, I've chosen only pro-business options and such. I do, however, have puppets which have Imploded economies and constantly low rankings for all the industrial stats. It's fun to experiment with both extremes.

economy is only a means to an end, nothing more. the purpose for having a good economy is for your people to have a high standard of living. a powerful economy is not always necessary for this. it does give you more money to play around with for you military though, unless you don't have any taxes.
