Best Regional Boards?

Hello,

I am a relatively new Regional founder (Manitou Heights) and am currently working on building the 'infrastructure' of the region with my co-conspirator Music Nuts. We've noticed that many active regions have an offsite board to augment the experience here and we find this appealing -- it's a neat idea to have a central reference of your region's and regional members' backstory available for reference.

What recommendations would you make in regards to:

1. Examples of well-designed, active regional boards
2. 'Must-have' forums/topics a good regional board should have
3. Stickies I may have missed browsing NS that provide additional info

Many thanks for your input - feel free to reply here and/or telegram me.

Sincerely,
Greater WallyWorld
Founder, Manitou Heights

PS - In case you're wondering, Manitou Heights is one of the nicknames for Saint Olaf College in Northfield, MN. Both Music Nuts and I are alumni of this school (early 90's) and we are crafting our region in that image. If there are Oles out there in NS, please come visit us and let us know who you are!

My region, August Dominion, has a forum that was created by a player named Raouls. I think this forum is great, so you can check it out.

Depends on the type of your regio I guess, ie if its roleplay or another one where it takes part in the defender/invader war.

If its the latter, then I suggest departments for forums, ie one forum would be defence and another Foreign etc etc.

Also a place for your allies to post would be good, many regions forums have called this "Embassy Row" or something like this.

To make it active, make sure you constantly propose it in your region, which should be active as well, perhaps a good colour scheme and activities may help??

Have a look at the 5 pacific regions, they all have good designed forums.

If you want roleplay, then maybe something like the official NationStates forum, a general one, then internation incedents.

Perhaps break it up more into trade forum, war forum etc.

Things that help with many forums whatever they are based on is obviously activity, so as long as your regions members nation are active, you should be ok. Besides if they are active, it wouldnt matter to much how it looks like

(especially if they contribute to what they want in a forum)

Hope this helps to somewhat :)

Our intent (at least initially) is to be RP focused and less invader/defender, though as membership (hopefully) increases and alliances develop I could see us moving that way. To be honest, we're still new enough that I don't want to wander into the invader/defender realm ill prepared.

Then I suggest the war, trade, etc structure, obviosly with a technical area just in case the forum messes up. :)
