Political Freedoms?

I can't recall any decisions I've made that restrict political freedom, and I've always gone for choices that I think reinforce freedom - sometimes in very radical ways, but but my nation never rises above "average".

Maybe my definition of 'political freedom' (or even 'average') is different to that of the game's designers? Or perhaps I'm only getting economic issues?

Anyhow, can anyone give me some pointers on how to boost my nation's 'political freedom'?

well the only way you can raise it is by picking pro Democracy divisions with the issues but I think P.F. is a messed up thing (a buddy of mine had world benchmark Civil rights but outlawed political freedoms)

A few PF affecting issues:

Make Democracy Compulsory
Harry Potter Censorship Row
Supreme Court Nomination
Term Limits for Senators
Death Penalty on the Agenda.
Nazi Sympathizers Plan Rally
Corporations Demand Political Say

In most of these issues, the options are kinda skewed so that if you choose the obviously left leaning option, civil rights go up and political freedoms go down.

Make Democracy Compulsory

Trying to stop the number of gun nuts being elected reduces PF

Harry Potter Censorship Row

Not being held hostage to puritanical censors reduces PF

Supreme Court Nomination

The option that raises PF is to allow the people to choose their own judges. But then there are two other good options: a pro civil rights judge and a pro environment one.

Term Limits for Senators

Reducing corporate and right wing influences on your government reduces PF

Death Penalty on the Agenda.

Outlawing the Death penalty in your nation reduces PF

Nazi Sympathizers Plan Rally

Stopping people going into the streets and screaming racist abuse reduces PF AND Civil Rights

Corporations Demand Political Say

Preventing corporate vote buying reduces PF

I've actually been choosing the 'right way' on most of those - except compulsory voting, which I felt reduced people's political freedom not to vote, and corporate vote buying which I assumed reduced freedom too

I have gotton two issues exactly te same. I have already adressed the issue of should Democracy be compulsary, and it has come up again today! If you dimiss the issues after you adress them do they come back? I thought that just meant; i'm done with that issue now give me another one! I need some help i haven't been doing this very long and i'm only 14!

I'm wondering - on some of these issues that can reduce PF...are some of them skewed so that if you make the "wrong" choice, you reduce PF, but there's no answer that can increse PF? What I mean is, are there some issues that can at best keep your PF the same (maybe only by dismissing them), but have choices that can reduce your PF?

I have a nation where I've been trying to increase PF (it doesn't help that I keep not getting the PF-influencing issues), and there are a couple of issues where I can see what answer will probably reduce the PF, but I'm not convinced that any of the options increases PF. And there are so few PF-related issues, that I really don't want to make the wrong choice!

It is worth noting that increasing military spending reduces political freedoms.

And does increasing police spending reduce civil rights by any chance?
