My NationStates region, the Etherian Alliance, is based on the principle that while democracy is the best system of government for a country, benevolent dictatorship is the best way to govern a region if one wishes to ensure that the member nations are run by intelligent, courteous and sensible people. To that end, I have developed a reasonable code of conduct for member nations, which is outlined below.
The Etherian Alliance is, as its Factbook Entry indicates, a region for states that give their citizens ample political freedoms and civil rights. If your state has an above-average rating in both these categories, you are welcome to join. Your economic rating is of no concern.
We are not concerned with what member nations do on the forums, but we ask you to behave courteously and roleplay according to the values expressed in the Factbook Entry. If you don't we will not count it against you, but keep in mind that your actions reflect on the rest of us for good or ill, and we would like to be proud of my member nations.
To join the Etherian Alliance, your nation’s Civil Rights and Political Freedoms ratings must both be above average. Applicants whose Civil Rights and Political Freedoms ratings are at or below average will not be admitted. However, if you change your nation’s policies and ratings accordingly and reapply for membership to the Alliance, we will be glad to admit you.
If your nation's ratings in Civil Rights and Political Freedoms fall below average while you are a member, I will assume that this is an unforeseen consequence of some position you took on a political issue. I will send a telegram of inquiry as to the cause of the ratings change. You will have seventy-two hours in which to respond, and I will expect you to fix the problem within a reasonable amount of time. If you do not, you will be ejected from the region.
When sending me telegrams or posting messages on the Civil Headquarters board, you can use any language you like, but for Lord's sake use proper spelling, punctuation, grammar and capitalization. First offenses will get a warning telegram, and second offenses will be punished by ejection from the region. Anyone who posts offensive or abusive messages on the Civil Headquarters board, or sends me such messages by telegram, will be drop-kicked into next week and reported to the administrators. If you receive an abusive or offensive message from one of the other member nations, please contact me.
We do not support spamming. Member nations are encouraged to report the senders of spam messages to the NationStates administrators (click on FAQ to access the “getting help” function so you can file a report). Don’t spam for the Etherian Alliance – we’re glad you like us, but since we don’t like receiving spam, it’s only fair that we shouldn’t send it ourselves. Don’t bother to recommend a given nation for membership, because inviting them would be spamming. You can PM them or make invitations on the forums (or by other means outside of NationStates), but not in any other way.
If you wish to join the Etherian Alliance, reply to my recruitment post on the message board, send me a telegram, or contact me by other means if you know how. I will send you the password as soon as I can.
Member nations may not give out the password for this region. Only myself and the U.N. Delegate can do that. Anyone who violates this rule will get the boot.
